Thanks for bringing these photos. Do you have period or near period tunes that you like to listen to on the gramaphone 33lima? Does GWX come with any? Maybe with the Steam Sale I can finally pick up a new copy of the game cheap and avoid my old starforced copy altogether. Its a shame that it came packaged with that terrible software otherwise I'm quite certain that the game would play just fine on my Windows 7 based PC.
Both GWX and GWX OneAlex Edition (which I'm currently playing) fill the blank vanilla SH3 gramophone folder with quite a few period pieces, mostly a mix of German, US and some French popular songs. I liked the original and atmospheric SH3 in-game music and even now tend rarely to put on a record. GWX One Alex has the stock in-game music off by default and I've got to like the only background sounds being the muffled rattle of the diesels (or the whine of the e-motors) and the sound of wind and/or waves:
Fiedler's instructions on how to get the original Starforce SH3 DVD running are on the Doenitz Elite Flotilla help forum, here: http://www.donitzeliteflotilla.com/forum/index.php?topic=3058.0 I believe later DVD,s without the install key code on the front of the DVD, are patched to 1.4b and won't have Starforce.
I have a dual-boot Win 10 and Win 7 but boot and play in Win 7 by default, and SH3 plays fine.
GWX OneAlex (which includes the improved U-boats that come with the German U-boat Compilation mod) is unzip and play and it seems it doesn't need anything from any existing install, just presumably that you have a legit licensed copy, which is I think similar to one other SH3 mega-mod and how WoFF operates as regards CFS3.
PS at date of typing, SH3 is on sale at Steam for the give-away price of £1.07 (full price only £4.29!) so even if you just want to avoid the chore of getting a Starforce DVD running, or a vanilla or lightly-modded SH3, now's the time. The Steam version is patched to 1.04b and is great out of the box, better with the ARB widescreen mod.
