Since Offiziersstellvertreter in ww1 is no official rank but means sort of NCO deputy if the officers is out of action or duty etc. Like teamcaptain is no official position in sports etc.

There were high rank Hauptmänner and Rittmeister flying actively, no Majors. If at all, Majors would be just behind the desk giving orders.

I can accept your rank explanation for OStv why they were removed from the game, but for Majors not flying … tell that to Major Lanoe Hawker VC, DSO.

Major exist in British squadrons as the example you gave in WOFF and fly. Not in German as a flier, as Creaghorn explained.
You can choose Major as ran in a manual squad enlistment.

In reality at that kind of rank a Major would probably end up often leading from the ground and flying less often, but some flew of course such as Hawker, and Major William George Barker.

Yes, we all know there have been flying Majors. This is not the question. The question is can we have the rank of Major added?
Consider this to be another way of ending one’s flying career. Add that to getting shot, getting captured, bleeding out, burning alive, crashing, getting impaled on a fence, executed by firing squad, colliding with enemy/friendly planes, getting VD. The list goes on and on.

Well German is as above so that likely won't happen. Brits and USA you can already choose Major. French goes up to Capt - but I think usually that was about as high as they went wen flying (apart from Fonck?)

So to me it seems correct.

Not widely known, but...there was one ambitious lad (family name Myner) - who, having grown up working in the coal industry, after his father's footsteps and thus developing an impressive background in the area - lied about his age, joined the military at an early age and (given his expertise) received a field commission upon being assigned to the field, and there-you-have-it:
