Are the skills of my subordinates generated independently of me, i.e. do they depend on their time / experience / fights in the squadron? Should I follow the career path of my subordinates closely? Do I have any influence on it?

Generally it applies to all AI.
If you survive, and try to keep your AI alive they can improve over time so yes that's worth doing to some extent, but they don't "care" if you are an ace or not.

Pol is talking about the WOFF BH&H2, not OFF3 or earlier versions of WOFF (per your comments in the Technical Issues section since WOFF BH&H2 does not require you to install CFS3 on your PC).

This is a complete surprise for me. I was convinced that CFS 3 is an e s s e n t i a l component of WoFF II. That's why I installed this add-on.
Do you think it still makes sense to have it on a PC? Uninstall? Will this not interfere with the simulation? Is it changing the way it works?

BTW to avoid confusion, best not to refer to it as WOFF II as there actually was a WOFF 2. No, you do NOT need CFS3 installed for BH&H II.
If everything is working fine, maybe just leave it for now.

As far as I'm aware, having CFS 3 installed isn't going to interfere, though I may be wrong.
If I remember correctly, ownership of CFS 3 is needed for purposes of licensing, as WOFF was developed out of CFS3. You don't actually require it installed to run or play.

This OBD mod has gone through the following iterations:
1. OFF1 (Free)
2. OFF2 (Free on a disk)
3. OFF3
4. OFF3 BH&H
5. WOFF1
6. WOFF2
7. WOFF3
8. WOFF UE
9. WOFF PE
10. WOFF BH&H2

IIRC, items 1-7 required you to install CFS3 on your PC, because the mod used some of the CFS3 game. Starting with item 8 to 10 you only have to own a copy of CFS3 for legal purposes since this technically a mod of CFS3 and this keeps Micro$oft off OBD's backs.

Thanks for that chart with the history of WOFF, PR - never knew there was a WOFF 2 and 3 - always thought it was just "WOFF" after BH&H, and before the consolidated UE variant rolled in.

That is why for some like me who all all of them, except OFF2, it can get confusing when people start calling BH&H2 by another name (one of the earlier versions) when they have a problem or comment.

Or to find which disc you need when you have to do a reinstall!
