I really miss my father. who passed away May Day 1993 at my age right now 58 from Lou Gherigs.
Today I got the most awesome fathers day gift an old guy like me can get. My son got married yesterday and I became a Grandfather. Jaxon will be 3 next weekend and an awesome daughter inlaw.
Hoping they can all come out west and visit us by fall. That sounds like a great Fathers Day you had. I too lost my Dad early, he died in 1995 from Cancer, he was 48. Having your own children definitely does take out some of the sting. Enjoy being a Grandpa ! I hope to someday.

To all the Fathers out there, and especially to the ones who's Father are no longer with us. If you have children, as I do, it is a bitter sweet day.
I reminded my wife of that same point, yesterday. I lost my father over a decade ago and hers is still living. And though she might be permanently disabled, I reminded her to cherish her father for some day she won't have him anymore. My Dad died at 64, way overweight and with a small fortune of investments, but had not retired yet--though in retrospect, I wish he had. My Mom is well taken care of, but darnit, we'd trade every dime in to have him back, flaws and warts and all. We're blessed we have our own daughter and I got to spend so much time with her yesterday.

Great photos indeed F4U. Just change the clothes a bit and add some Daguerreotype effects and the black & white pic on the lower right could be mistaken for an Old West saloon portrait. True. And I've always thought that in the middle left picture he bore a striking resemblance to Stonewall Jackson.
