Speaking of negative traits, Attila is absolutely the most brutal when it comes to issuing those out to your governors and generals. The infamous one is "Blind" which reduces the three major trait categories (authority, zeal and cant remember the third one right now) by -5 each!

That's bad, but I have to disagree and believe Rome 1 and Med 2 are much worse. Just look at the trait list I linked. It was even worse in the mod I played, Stainless Steel. You could end up with some really bad leaders, which were sent alone to recon the Mongols haha.

I've put over 50 hours into my campaign now in Rome Remastered and while I'm liking this game overall, there's just way too much micromanagement with the agents. I'm spending a very significant amount of time on each turn just managing my agents.

Patch 2.01 is out with some minor fixes...BUT...this is good news:

Yeah, I noticed that as well. The pathfinding definitely needs to be improved. I'm having armies and agents get stuck all the time during movement. The AI behavior so far I've found no better or worse than the other TW titles.

Earlier I had cited pathfinding as a weakness of the remaster and you had indicated it's the same as other titles. Has more time shown that it is worse, or is this pathfinding fixes that all titles could use? I must say that with the number of manual battles I've done in my current Rome 2 campaign, nearing 100, I have fought a lot of settlement battles and I've been quite please with pathfinding. I can click on the center square or wherever and my unit will find its way there with no trouble. And with shift allowing me to place waypoints even the most winding paths are easily created.

Just curious if your additional playtime has revealed some weaknesses which were not apparent early on.

In my case that is definitely it. I think once I got to the point in the campaign where there were many more armies and agents on the map the pathfinding issues finally became apparent.

So this is pathfinding on the strat map, or on battle maps?

That's a good question. I assumed the patch notes were referring to pathfinding on the strategic map but it may very well be addressing 3D battles as well.

So who is playing this besides me and Barkhorn?

I finished my first campaign and I'm now playing as Egypt

I now have over 120 hours in the game so I have a few more observations:

The AI diplomacy behavior makes little sense. I'll get peace and trade rights with a faction that I was at war with and then the very next turn that same faction will declare war on me again. I've also seen AI-controlled factions see-saw constantly between being at peace and being at war. The AI diplomacy behavior is really schizophrenic.

I also don't like the "bribe" ability that the dignitaries have. It means that once you have a ton of money accumulated you can essentially pay your way to victory.
