I assume that this mod is also For WOFF UE/PE? (Thank you.) No it isn't. There's a downloadable batch file (script) for UE/PE over here https://SimHQ.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/4454723/2/errors-found-in-labels-for-skin (usually near the last post). The reason for the difference is that OBD include the skins as part of the game download and fixed many of the old naming errors when they released Between Heaven and Hell 2.

OK I've had a look at the OBD 1.14 patch. Most of the corrected skin names have been added. I've updated my mod so it does not overwrite the OBD files; but I continue to remove the old names for no real reason other than to keep the MOD from dropping to zero size (and I'm a bit anal retentive).
@Pol: you are still missing off_Alb_DV_later_Ace_t_Jasta 23 1917_Karl_Schattauer --> off_Alb_DV_later_Ace_t_Jasta 23 1917_Fritz_Schattauer
@Sandbagger: I've uploaded the new MOD

As I continue my Quixotic quest to clean up the Skin names, I've run into some interesting cases, and I've decided to split my MOD into two pieces that get distributed together. Here's what happened:
When I go to correct a misnamed skin, I have found many cases where the correct named skin already exists. Up until now, I would leave the existing skin alone and remove the badly named skin. However, I have found several cases where the misnamed skin and properly named skin do not have the same paint scheme. Most of the time, the misnamed skin looks like an earlier version of the good skin. Since I dislike the idea of removing a possibly useful paint scheme; but I also dislike the idea having a bunch of files cluttering up my skin list when I fly quick combat missions (where almost everything seems to show up no matter the name), I've decided to create a "Skins Cleanup" mod in addition to the "Skin Name Fixes" mod. Here's the logic for what goes where when I find a misnamed skin:
- if the correct skin name does not exist, then I "rename" the file (the correct skin name appears and the misnamed skin disappears). This all goes into the "Skin Name Fixes" mod. - if the correct skin name does exist, I leave the correct file alone and delete of the misnamed skin. This deletion goes into the "Skins Cleanup" mod.
This way, you can get your correct skins for your campaigns by applying the Fixes mod, and you have the option to remove (or keep) the misnamed stuff by applying the second mod.
Note: In the OBD patches, they have been creating the correct skin names and leaving the misnamed skins in place -- perhaps they know something I don't or are simply erring on the side of caution. Those misnamed skins will end up in the cleanup mod.
This change will happened when I put together the next version of the skin name mod (yes I have another batch of fixes coming).

Thanks for trying to fix the names mandrews. Unfortunately 7000 skins done by many artist skinners over time, there are bound to be errors - also bound to be typos in the ace file that the manager uses with so many names. The manager uses it to find the ace name, and then looks for a skin correctly named to match it. So any errors in names in the ace database then have to be reproduced in the skin too for the manager to find a match.
Except for the USAAces, I have taken the database as gospel. I came across an issue with the USAAces file, that requires a corrected version to be distributed in the next version of the mod. The file has been saved with ISO encoding and includes proper quotes rather than the ANSI single quote. Since I was "in there" anyway, I fixed a couple of other names too. By the time I finish the next version of my misnamed mod, and if I apply the deletion part of the mod for skins that have already been found and corrected over the years, I think I'll be down to only about 20 mis-named (unidentified pilots) skins. Even before I started, the mis-named error rate was in the single digits, it's just that there's 7000+ of them. For me that's what makes this sim so awesome, you can be flying with your squadron mates and tell who is who just like in real life.
