No worries. The default is on. Your reputation remains intact. Unless "off" is the better setting. Don't forget Windows and logic. I wonder what operating system Vulcans are using on their Tricorders? I'm sure they didn't use the Starfleet standard issue devices.

. Another update for those interested. After running about thirty more benchmarks this AM with different W10 items switched on and off, and with various background programs also switched on and off, I have seen no real difference in the overall performance of the updated system. 3DMark scores range between the high score of 30727 and a low score of 30329, with no pattern that I can see related to the aforementioned items either on or off. My conclusion at this point is that the usual tweaks I've done in the past don't seem to matter with this build combination. I also looked a bit more closely at the online 3DMark Top 100 FireStrike scores for the i5-10600K CPU and it is an interesting list. If you discount the multiple entries for the same user testing the same set-up repeatedly, the GPU spread looks to be as follows: 3090..................1 3080................23 2080 Ti............19 2080 Super.......1 2080.................2 1080 Ti x2........2 1080 Ti.............1 1080 x2............1 Titan X..............1 2070 Super x2...1 (my set-up) My results are still in 4th place with the cards above me being two 3080s and one of the 1080 Ti SLI set-ups. I'm betting the person who popped for that lone 3090 is none-to-pleased with the list. .

On an unrelated note, those with moderately-capable rigs, or lower, might want to disable "game bar monitoring" in their Win10 setups to squeeze out a few more FPS in WOFF and other sims. (not the game bar itself in case you use that to record in some sims., but simply the monitoring part - requires a registry tweak indicated under the relevant section at this link): https://www.windowscentral.com/how-disable-and-remove-game-bar-windows-10-creators-update(Look for "How to disable XBox game monitoring" on that page, for the relevant info.) ~ For my various FM/AI/FPS/DM Mods. for First Eagles 2, WoFF, RoF & WoTR, and tips for FlightGear, recommended is to check over my CombatAce profile ( https://combatace.com/profile/86760-vons/) and to click on the "About Me" tab while there. ~

. Good tip VonS, no point in letting something run in the background that you never use. It's been a bit more than a week of testing and general WOFF enjoyment and the new rig is still proving itself to be a beast. I also just checked the 3DMark results to see where I was on the rankings and with another 175 new results posted, mainly 3080s and 3090s, I am still in the top ten, currently number seven: 3DMark FireStrike Benchmark Results Not too shabby!

I have a 10600k with a 2080Ti, I may give the bench a whirl if I get a chance but I see there are 3 firestrike benchmarks, the first only runs at 1920x1080 have you tried any others Lou? Maybe the 3080 would start to leave the 2xxx series more in higher res/4K benchmarks or when the benchmark tools use the newer Nvidia raytracing etc (I haven't looked into that though). I read briefly for example 4K is fine on a 2080TI, and raytracing is fine, just not at the same time - 3080 does both.

Just thought id jump on here has i've just sorted a new build. All scores are stock settings
RTX 3070, Ryzen 5 5600x
Graphic score 35476 Graphic test 1 172.04 fps Graphic test 2 139.79 fps
Physic score 25065 Fps 79.57
Combined score 13861..64.47fps
Overall score 29120
Cost a little over 1500 quid,(GPU prices are scandalous) sold a Cpu, Mb,16 GB of mem and a GTX 1070 for £620 so..900 quid.
Gaming at 1440p it smashes everything out of the water, it's a phenomenal rig
Just wanted to say that the Ryzen Chips are the Mutts nuts there rapid, with low power usage compared to comparable Intel chips i'd massively recommend them. Hope you're enjoying your system Lou, cheers
Edit: @Epower Cinebench R20 gives the Ryzen chip a score of 4273
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.

Well, I've just perused all 3 pages and my head is spinning. It doesn't help that I spent all day trying to sort out Social Security & Medicare options, plus over an hour on the phone with an insurance company about damages done to the house during a refrigerator delivery, and then a Pension Benefit Guarantee Board call-hold-wait about a form that wouldn't take the value I was told to enter... And two of the grandkids (3 & 5) were here for a couple of hours...
See, it's time. 25 scheduled working days remaining. And I have an ancient rig kept alive by the 1080Ti and 4.1GHz and plenty of RAM (at least for WOFF - see siggie). But it's time. The old monitor doesn't like HDMI input; I'd like to start there. Chips are still in short supply, so no sense jumping in with both feet. There's time (hopefully) this winter to sort out full upgrade details. And I'll move to my own thread if you'd prefer, Lou. But one thing- I'll probably still consult, so I'd like this new monitor to accept an input from whichever computer I hook it up to, hopefully without a KVM switch - just like your TV, shouldn't you be able to choose your source with your monitor? The work laptop is a Micro$oft Surface book - the big one. My room currently looks like some kind of control room, my laptop, my desktop and 3 monitors,a total of 4 screens, my wife hates it! So some streamlining on retirement is to be forthcoming, and we will both be ecstatic - and maybe I can sort out the new key assignments and get back in the air with you guys!
So who's making good monitors these days? What sort of specs should I be looking at?
