Here is a new thread for anyone enjoying FC I. While the DM is in a controversial state and in need of updating, FC I with the cloud mod sure does look sweet. Syn_Vander has a 'Quick Mission Generator' that is easy to use and quite fun for the single hops. I am hoping to get PWCG FC I installed this week and start a career in it. This thread is open for anyone to post in so please feel free to join in. Can you tell what my Favorite Crate is? BBBWWWWAAAAA Putt Putt Putt Putt Putt! More Combat pics to come in the future.
The FC1 aircraft and aircrew do look a bit better than RoF, though they still seem to have the observers sitting facing forward not 'watching their arcs' when not actually manning their MG, which is one big irritant in RoF. Seems like you can also zoom in closer.
Always liked the N.28 myself, ever since making the trim little Revell 1/72 model back in the Sixties.
Thanks gents. Yea FC has its' problems and mistakes like any other WWI combat sim. Fundamentally it is a solid platform to work from and hopefully they will tweak it and improve it as FC II and FC III materialize. 1C has a lot on their plate and I am sure keeping everyone happy is no easy task. I am thinking they will not change the forward facing observers unfortunately as that would take a lot of recoding, but who knows. Here is a little series showing another problem. Nieuport swallowing Drakans! I flew a little to close on my attack run, touched a wheel, was sucked inside the Drakan and then she proceeded to burst into flames and spit me out the other side less one wheel. At least the DM looks good on this one though as the Drakan removed the correct wheel after the collision. I feel sure this most likely occurred quite frequently in WWI, but no one ever managed to capture the event in a picture or moving pictures. I did manage to fly back to my Aerodrome and land on 1 wheel until the whole undercarriage collapsed and my Nieuport was left upright laying on the ground. Any landing that you can walk away from!!! Also a couple more combat pics as promised.

When you think you are close enough, get closer still! Do not fire your weapons I tell you, until you are able to see your foe quaking with complete fear which he knows arises from his impending doom!
I didn't even realize PWCG had support for Flying Circus. That's pretty awesome...I need to try it out. Loved PWCG in Rise of Flight.
"I have only two men out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." 1stLt. Clifton B. Cates, USMC in Belleau Wood, 19 July 1918
Coot, FC1 = the current Flying Circus: part one of the current IL2 Great Battle WWI series. FC2 = Flying Circus II is in early access and only 2 planes have been released. FC3 = Flying Circus III is a proposed third edition of the FC series.
PWCG = Pat Wilson's Campaign Generator. A free third party campaign generator for ROF, IL2 GBS and FC1. Did I miss any?
Is Flying Circus essentially where ROF makers 777 Studios went? Its hard to keep track of all this.
Also I'm interested in thies PWCG thing. I still have ROF installed but haven't played in years. Does it make better more interesting campaigns than the stock ROF campaign? Thanks for the info.
I would say yes, PWCG definitely makes for a much better campaign experience in RoF. You can amongst other things:
- highly configure RoF eg to increase the volume of flak (good for spotting in those otherwise empty-looking skies) - pick your flight mates, including whether you lead or don't (a bit like in First Eagles/FE2, that hugely under-rated but also excellent (when modded) WW1 combat flight sim); - change waypoints, or scrub the mission for another one if you don't like it; - see a map-based action replay of the patrol, like the ones in Red Baron 3d - write a combat report, not unlike in WoFF.
This was one such a patrol, the report illustrating some of the above features...
