Here is a new thread for anyone enjoying FC I. While the DM is in a controversial state and in need of updating, FC I with the cloud mod sure does look sweet. Syn_Vander has a 'Quick Mission Generator' that is easy to use and quite fun for the single hops. I am hoping to get PWCG FC I installed this week and start a career in it. This thread is open for anyone to post in so please feel free to join in. Can you tell what my Favorite Crate is? BBBWWWWAAAAA Putt Putt Putt Putt Putt! winkngrin More Combat pics to come in the future.

Yes smashing screenies there mate!

The FC1 aircraft and aircrew do look a bit better than RoF, though they still seem to have the observers sitting facing forward not 'watching their arcs' when not actually manning their MG, which is one big irritant in RoF. Seems like you can also zoom in closer.

Always liked the N.28 myself, ever since making the trim little Revell 1/72 model back in the Sixties.

Thanks gents. Yea FC has its' problems and mistakes like any other WWI combat sim. Fundamentally it is a solid platform to work from and hopefully they will tweak it and improve it as FC II and FC III materialize. 1C has a lot on their plate and I am sure keeping everyone happy is no easy task. I am thinking they will not change the forward facing observers unfortunately as that would take a lot of recoding, but who knows. Here is a little series showing another problem. Nieuport swallowing Drakans! rolleyes I flew a little to close on my attack run, touched a wheel, was sucked inside the Drakan and then she proceeded to burst into flames and spit me out the other side less one wheel. At least the DM looks good on this one though as the Drakan removed the correct wheel after the collision. hahaha I feel sure this most likely occurred quite frequently in WWI, but no one ever managed to capture the event in a picture or moving pictures. winkngrin I did manage to fly back to my Aerodrome and land on 1 wheel until the whole undercarriage collapsed and my Nieuport was left upright laying on the ground. Any landing that you can walk away from!!! yep
Also a couple more combat pics as promised.

I didn't even realize PWCG had support for Flying Circus. That's pretty awesome...I need to try it out. Loved PWCG in Rise of Flight.

"I have only two men out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold."

Coot,
FC1 = the current Flying Circus: part one of the current IL2 Great Battle WWI series.
FC2 = Flying Circus II is in early access and only 2 planes have been released.
FC3 = Flying Circus III is a proposed third edition of the FC series.

PWCG = Pat Wilson's Campaign Generator. A free third party campaign generator for ROF, IL2 GBS and FC1.
Did I miss any?

Is Flying Circus essentially where ROF makers 777 Studios went? Its hard to keep track of all this.

Also I'm interested in thies PWCG thing. I still have ROF installed but haven't played in years. Does it make better more interesting campaigns than the stock ROF campaign? Thanks for the info.

I would say yes, PWCG definitely makes for a much better campaign experience in RoF. You can amongst other things:

- highly configure RoF eg to increase the volume of flak (good for spotting in those otherwise empty-looking skies)
- pick your flight mates, including whether you lead or don't (a bit like in First Eagles/FE2, that hugely under-rated but also excellent (when modded) WW1 combat flight sim);
- change waypoints, or scrub the mission for another one if you don't like it;
- see a map-based action replay of the patrol, like the ones in Red Baron 3d
- write a combat report, not unlike in WoFF.

This was one such a patrol, the report illustrating some of the above features...

https://combatace.com/forums/topic/89540-rise-of-flight-revisited/

...and this was another...

https://combatace.com/forums/topic/89593-unlucky-13-for-stachel/

Good hunting!

I agree with 33lima, PWCG does provide better Campaigns. I used it for years during ROF's hay days. ROF was a beautiful Sim and a lot of fun to fly.

Great pics there!

They've gone for a different, more matt, washed-out look for the aircraft, evidently. RoF was a bit closer to factory-fresh.

Hopefully FC will get the general-purpose 2-seaters it badly needs soon.

One of the things that ROF and PWCG (version 16.3.1) - in combo - enables you to do is add hundreds of custom skins/ace pilots to your campaigns.

Here is the general link:
https://riseofflight.com/forum/forum/394-pat-wilsons-campaign-generator/

If you run into issues/have questions; please post over at the ROF forum and we will answer

Thanks Vince H. Here are a few more.

Barkhorn1x. Are the PWCG skins separate skin sets from the Official 777 skin packs I forget. If so, how big is your whole ROF main folder? Do you own the Channel and Russian maps? I am thinking of reinstalling ROF with all I mentioned and I am wondering how many gigs that will be?

Blade:

My total RoF install clocks in at 97 GBs.

Out of that 87 GBs are skin files. I collect A LOT of skins.

Now, the base install + Historical skin packs would be less than half that total as they comprise years old work.

However, there has been significant contributions to the PWCG skin world over the past two years that really fill out the skin assignment possibilities.

Here are the major links that will be of interest:

1. Allied skins & older German skins:
https://riseofflight.com/forum/topic/40992-one-place-go-skins-use-pwcg/

2. Gooshe's EXCELLENT German skins (includes Aces/default squad/pilot assignment skins):
https://riseofflight.com/forum/topic/57543-goosehs-skins-aircraft/

3. My files that tie everything together in PWCG*:
https://riseofflight.com/forum/topi...-needed-new-gooseh-skinsothers-wip-upda/

4. PWCG version 16.3.1:
https://mega.nz/file/r3403YbR#H067Th0Yu6KmBd7MbUOE74WydBP7tDsOSG0hOFuq1TY

* NOTE = I am working on updates that will include more aces and pilot assignment skins and I should release by late next week.

Thanks Barkhorn1x, I really appreciate the links and information. So would I still be best to install all of the Official skin packs to be used by the Official Career? I assume that all of the skins for above would need to be installed along with your files to make those skin packs work in PWCG?

If you have the space I would as the allied skins are available only from the official packs and link #1.
If you don't then definitely get Gooseh's German skins from link #2. They are complete sets for ALL German PWCG squads and they are AWESOME.

And, yes, you do need my files from link #3 as that tells PWCG:
- What ace skins to use
- What default squad skins to use
- Allows you to select squad appropriate skins for your non-ace squad mates

GREAT screenies BTW!

Question for you Blade_M:

How do you get your screenies to load with so they are large and have those nice borders?

Barkhorn1x, I use Infranview, control + D brings up the boarder menu. The black, grey and maroon are what I have created and SimHQ automatically puts the outer white on top. I use Imgur to host and I use 'Get Shared Links' ---> then copy the BBcode and post it in my message here. I always save my pics as PNG format for the best quality picture at just a bit larger file size than JPEG. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your kind words Sir. Yes taking pictures is a time consuming trap which I have fallen into. I must say that between taking pics and writing stories that my actual in sim flight time to enjoy the enormous amount of quality content included in all of the high caliber Combat Flight Sims and older modded CFSs has suffered greatly. In the end though I am an eye candy lover so this is my thing and I enjoy seeing people's reaction to what I post. I shudder to think if I were to install Shadowplay and started recording my flights.
