I'm glad it's not just me whose eels are going astray so often - although having recently re-read Wolfgang Hirschfeld's excellent memoirs of his service on mostlyType IXB U-109, they too had many frustrating misses, even into 1942. Well worth a read if you haven't already done so.
I see U-60 was a Type IIC not a VII so you must be trying to confuse the Tommy radio interception service into thinking you're still in a dugout canoe (as the small boats were known)!
