Hi all,

Yes, this old idiot wants to play OFF. So he installed everything from his old official disks (he once bought) and downloads. And the first times everything worked. Then he shutted off his laptop and a couple of days later he tried to fly again. And constantly gets the message: Run-time error '13'; Type mismatch.

Suggestions welcome!

Well there's not a lot of info there. More info on exactly what you are doing and where that appears, what OS, which OFF etc may help. But maybe you have inadvertently typed some characters into the altitude box or other selection box (especially if QC or QS). Use the pull down menu selection to correct.

Thanks for trying to help, but this I do not understand. But I'll do a complete new installation and will se what comes out.

In the menu in QC. Next to "altitude" "aircraft" etc, you can click the little down arrow to "pull down" a selection to choose.

In other words, make sure you do not have some INVALID data or characters typed in a box.

OK, for those who are interested in what I did. For your info why: my good “old” Win7 laptop gave up after many years of happy simming, could not get a proper Win7 laptop again, so had to buy a good 2nd hand WinX one (unfortunately).
My specs: WinXPro 64bit, Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz, 16GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 630.
2 Drives, C=250 SSD, D=500SSD.
In the “old” days I bought OFF + patches officialy, OFF 1.0 on disc, patch 1.2 by download and burned on DVD by me, patch 1.4 HitR by download and also burned on disc by me. And I have the official Microsoft CFS3 disc 1&2.
After installing a proper working FSX, FS9, CFS3 BoB & MAW and Silent Hunter III GW I wondered what my old OFF would do on this laptop.
So I started installing OFF Phase 1. It worked flawless, after setting the comptability to WinXP srvice pack 2. Then I started to install OFF Phase 2 Release v1.0. Got a runtime error “13”. Ignored that and went on installing all the phase2 exe’s. Didn’t play, but got on by installing HitR. Everything went ok, aicrafts installed screens, skins installing screens, etc.. Then I did set the OFFManager.exe to WinXP SP2 and started playing. Got the message that my CFS3.exe wasn’t in the files and indeed: gone. So I put in a cracked one and started playing again. Everything goes (ofcourse after enlisting a pilot), OC’s and campaigns went smooth, only after one message (which I still get):
Populate Airfield Facility. Aircraft setup error (=1).
But ignoring that message gets me flying. Until I go back tot he hangar. Then I get the message that my CFS3 disk is not in the drive and that I should ask the OFF-team mentioning “Patch DLL error. Game terminated prematurely. PatchMemorySync::Done. TerminateProcess () failed (5) =2.
If someone would be so kind to help me getting rid of these messages (1&2), that would be great, for when I start the game anew I get the message that the game wasn’t shutoff properly. But after ignoring that message everything works
Other things I would like to know is what I must do (or NOT do) with these exe-files, that now are in my OFF:
CFS3 Mission Builder install.exe, cfs3 mudpatch.exe, cfs3gvp1nek.exe, cfs3redux1nek.exe, cfs3updateeng.exe, cswap.exe, dr_makemaw_V1.3.exe, gc_he111_shared.exe, iS4GStaticCarriers_1.exe, MultiCFS3.exe, OFFInstaller.exe, OFFSplash.exe, SceneryPatcher.exe, vbrun60sp6.exe.

Sounds like a right mess Do NOT install CFS3 into WOFF [edit: Nor into OFF] or vice versa, they should be completely separate.

WOFF BH&H II does not need to see your disk or install of CFS3, but old versions of OFF did.

Also you can't put a cracked exe from elsewhere in that won't work either.

Maybe clean everything off, then clean install OFF p2 and see how it goes.

I don't want to be rude, but I'm playing OFF and not WOFF.

If I install WOFF 1 on my new laptop, it says that the installation is completed and ok, but as I try to play it (after patching the exe to WinXP SP2) I only get a black screen with a running cursor. Even after waiting 15 minutes, for maybe the installation takes time to settle. Which it doesn't. I can only get out by means of a forced shutoff and a new upstart.

And maybe my OFF looks like a mess, it WORKS, WOFF doesn't.

I would be very thankful if you or somebody else could help me with an answer on my questions 1 & 2, and if somebody could help me with a CFS3.exe patched to v 3.1 that would be much aprreciated.

You are not rude, I understand you are playing OFF just been typing "WOFF" for many years now and you also talk of WOFF in the large description of OFF1 OFF 2 WOFF etc so a typo.

What exactly are you trying to get running WOFF1 or OFF 2?

If the cfs3.exe is "gone" then maybe your Anti Virus deleted it. With Windows 10 they also broke the CFS3 CD protection which wouldn't help.

WOFF1 will likely not work until you turn off the splash screen and probably campaign videos too. The FAQ goes over that in the "Laptop Users Section" nearer the end.

Older versions of "OFF" probably won't work on Windows 10.

Some of those OFFs came out in 2009 and I can no longer remember all the ins and outs.
