Don't worry, PETA have the answer. Catch and release.

A new source of meat to eat.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Where is Shawn Woods when you need him I was thinking Ian Anderson. 100% natural. The PETA folks will lose their minds. "But you're killing the mice!" "But the lizard deserves to live, too!" 'But..." "But..." "But... I've actually considered doing something similar, Chef. In my case, building a bat warren in a corner of my lot to control the mosquitos.
SALUTE TO ALL!

Good grief.....awful. Having experienced the devastation just a couple of mice in my garden shed can cause, ruining all camping equipment with chewing feces and urine contamination, one can't imagine the effect of this explosion. Not that i minded that much; really gone off camping in my dotage!
I thought Australia was full of predators! Surely a few Cassowary would sort some of that lot out!

Didn’t Australia or one of its states just recently cull millions of feral cats in the outback?

Surely a few Cassowary would sort some of that lot out! Just bring in, yet another, animal to solve a pest problem. That's worked SOOO well in the past, for Australia. Cassowary It is classified as a ratite (flightless bird without a keel on its sternum bone) and is native to the tropical forests of New Guinea (Papua New Guinea and Indonesia), Aru Islands, and northeastern Australia.
