Is this for real or a joke? If real, I'm glad I switched to Open Office years ago.

Not a joke... https://office-watch.com/2020/how-does-microsoft-word-handle-non-binary-grammar-like-they/I use LibreOffice on Win10 and Linux (although it's not so snappy like my old Office), and I'd still be using OpenOffice on my Win2K/XP desktop if not for some stuff I'm doing with VBA.

Personally, If what I have does everything I want it to I don't upgrade.
...
The critical thing are the security updates. If your PC is on the internet or even a LAN it really needs those security updates.

Agreed, with the exception of an offline LAN as I have in my office (physical wires going to hub, no modem/online capability). Not that I'm paranoid about going wireless, it's just that all of my old stuff still works great (vintage tech was built to last if you take care of it).

Like a lot of you, I stick with what has worked for me over the years. I.e. I'm old fashioned by today's standards.
I've been using LibreOffice (LibreOffice is the evolution of OpenOffice) since it came out (I switched from Open Office). I only use the word processor and spread sheet aspects.
While I'm listing stuff: For graphics, I have the complete Corel Draw suite (started with Corel 3 decades ago). For 3D, its Blender. For programming, Embarcadero Delphi 10.4 Pascal (almost never write a program anymore -- but used the precursor at work in the 1980s -- stuck with it).
Almost never turn my cell phone on (maybe once every few weeks) -- pay $14 a month for "full service" (monthly Gigabytes limited). We have 12 "land line" wireless handsets spread around the house (cheap vs Cell Phone) and much more convenient.
Sapphire Pulse RX7900XTX, 3 monitors = 23P (1080p) + SAMSUNG 32" Odyssey Neo G7 1000R curve (4K/2160p) + 23P (1080p), AMD R9-7950X (ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 420), 64GB RAM@6.0GHz, Gigabyte X670E AORUS MASTER MB, (4x M.2 SSD + 2xSSD + 2xHD) = ~52TB storage, EVGA 1600W PSU, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Full Tower, ASUS RT-AX89X 6000Mbps WiFi router, VKB Gladiator WW2 Stick, Pedals, G.Skill RGB KB, AORUS Thunder M7 Mouse, W11 Pro
