I seem to recall reading, many years ago, posts about replacing the heavy springs of the Thrustmaster F-22 Pro stick with something lighter. Well, my Googling and YouTube searching has failed me.

So, does anyone here have a link to or memories of a procedure or instructions or guidance on gimble spring replacement for these sticks?

Thanks,
Llama

IIRC most of the tension of the F-22 Pro comes from the rubber boot. Try removing that first. If it's still too stiff you'd have to buy a couple of torsion spring or unwind and clip the original ones, if that's even possible without breaking them?

Hi MadMike,

I have a few F22's, and one of them is bootless, and so I can tell you that the boot contributes almost, but not quite, NOTHING to the overall tension of the stick. In the FLCS with weaker springs, however, the boot contributes significantly to the tension.

Taking the torsion spring out seems not too difficult, but unwinding it with any precision and safety would require a shop and tools I just don't have. What I'm hoping for is someone to come on and say, "Oh, you need a different spring, Mouser part number 123456, and it only needs to be clipped a little bit and it fits right in." I guess we shall see. I'll head down to the hardware store later and see if any of the dozens of springs in their drawers might be suitable.

Internet
FLCS use a pincer gimbal with extension springs (like in CH gimbal's), but F22 PRO is basically the same pincer gimbal with torsion springs used latter in Cougar.

I've see many mods for Cougar at their "hay days", but none replacing their torsion springs with torsion springs.

Difficult you will find torsion spring with same size of the one used (in F22 PRO or Cougar) in any store, need order in some spring manufacturer, with less tension.

The Object 77-B V2 gimbal (CAM) 3D printed was used successfully in Cougar, can be option for F22 PRO, but is not designed to fit potentiometer, instead contactless sensor.
