U44 A Type VII B undersee Boote Departed St Nazaire on the 1 Nov for 2nd Patrol.

Contact Report: 5 Nov 1940. Spotted and chase a large Motor Vessel BF 77 in high Seas submerged and lost the enemy {Speed 10 Knts headed North.) when fire upon. Vessel appeared to have two 3in or 5il guns.

Contact Report. 7 Nov 1940 Chased and sunk a Tanker with gun fire at CG 21. Gave crew time to abandon ship.
