I played about an hour of this yesterday and I really like it so far. The game plays very different from Rome 2 but in a good way. Me too. And totally agree!

I've put in about 9 hours into the game so far and I've realized that it plays significantly different from Rome 2. In many ways I had to unlearn what I had gotten used to with the more recent TW titles. For example, the diplomacy and trade is all handled via agents and not a universal menu that you call up. It took me a while to get used to that major change. Overall though, I've really been enjoying the game so far.

Me too. And - it is VERY different from R2TW - and that's a GOOD thing.

Me too. And - it is VERY different from R2TW - and that's a GOOD thing. I'd say Rome Remastered almost plays like a Paradox-style strategy game. The diplomacy, politics and economics is much more in-depth. One change I don't like though is the lack of 3D naval battles.

So do you guys think it's worth the price of admission ?? I'm kind of sitting on the fence right now.Didn't spend a lot of time on past Rome titles played Medieval II and Shogun II a lot and a bit of Empire I've been reading posts at Steam but most of them are clowns who make claims with no facts about game play to back them up.

So do you guys think it's worth the price of admission ?? If you have any interest in the ancient world and especially the Roman Republic I highly recommend you get it. It also has a tutorial you can play which teaches you the basics.

Oh, and just wait till the modders get rolling.

Thanks for the input,Decided to grab it.My machine can more than handle it and I like the period so in the end it's a must have. Good deal. Let us know if you have any issues/questions as we've been playing since the original release back in Sept. 2004.

I started on STW too!
I notice that all 3 of us joined SimHQ in 2001. Man we are old!

I remain not convinced. I have fond memories of this one, and the remaster may be worthy, but I suspect I will find it lacking so I plan to give it a miss. From what I've read -- which is not a highly reliable method at times -- is that the UI is horrible, pathfinding is poor, sieges are as bad as ever, battle maps are mostly featureless and the new merchants are poorly implemented. Maybe when it goes on sale I'll pick it up to see for myself, but at this point I'm not feeling it.
No, now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!
