What’s wrong with the picture? Let’s see. The telegraph poles are going nowhere. The trees are growing in the middle of the path. There is no ladder to go up the watch tower. The hangar in the foreground isn’t being used much judging by the pristine grass in front of it. And there is the smoke. It isn’t anywhere near the chimney. Did I miss anything?

Well, I thought about it, but I’ve given up realizing it’s not even a WWI picture. It’s in colour for Christ’s sake. Obviously a fake!

Well, if I can pitch in my two cents worth, of all the things pointed out, I have always missed having wind effects in play, on the windsock and the smoke. That feature alone would add some atmosphere to landing patterns. Oh well, we are lucky to have what we have given the CFS3 engine.

Yes JJ, it’s the smoke going one way and the windsock going the other that catches my eye*. Clearly the “Met Man” isn’t doing his job. There is one other hidden thing though. This is supposed to be summer, on the Marne Front. So why do they have a fire going in the squadron office? Cheers Mike *I’m not as observant as Fullofit

In response to your questions The met man forgot to lubricate the pivot on the windsock; and the they are having a "Brew Up" inthe squadron office!!

Just a quick point about the smoke and windsock; both can be made to go in the same wind direction by setting the proper "degrees" for each in the appropriate facilities file. Also, to the smoke being far above the chimney; that can be fixed by using the correct "house smoke", again in the appropriate facilities file. Easy peasey.
Now then, as to why they have a fire going in the office in the summer, who knows. Maybe they're destroying secret documents before the enemy can get their grubby hands on them.

There is one other hidden thing though. This is supposed to be summer, on the Marne Front. So why do they have a fire going in the squadron office? How's about boiling a kettle? At best they had an old stove cooker in there but probably a kettle next to the fire.
"A great deal of an aeroplane could be holed without affecting its ability to fly. Wings and fuselage could be—and often were—pierced in 50 places, missing the occupants by inches (blissfully unaware of how close it had come until they returned to base). Then the sailmaker would carefully cover each hole with a square inch of Irish linen frayed at the edges and with a brushful of dope make our aircraft 'serviceable' again within an hour."
