44% on Rotten Tomatoes. I was hoping it would be better, being a Tom Clancy fan. I probably will watch it anyway though.

"Hunt for Red October" is an absolute film classic and I've watched it at least 25 times and I've listened to the audio commentary on the bluray several times as well.
Every other Clancy film that came afterwards ranges from mediocre to terrible in my opinion.
I have not seen the Jack Ryan series on Amazon so I can't comment on that one.

I saw it last night, it was horrible. Why bother calling it "Without Remorse?" It was nothing like the book at all. They should have just made it a stand alone movie with its own title (ot cross it over that's fine) but to call it "Without Remorse"? It just became another revenge movie.
I also was bugged by how Karen Greer was a LCDR...then when they were in the CIA briefing she was CDR (based on her sleeve stripes and the scrambled eggs on her cover's bill). I was like,oh, she got promoted! But then the Secretary referred to her as LCDR...and then in a later scene she was back to the 2.5 LCDR stripes and plain bill on her cover. Plus being a LCDR SEAL, and all the ribbons and medals she had---she would have to be highly active or much older than she was. It was just unbelievable.

I did like Patriot Games and especially Clear and Present Danger.
When I first saw the trailer for "Air Force One" I thought they had made a movie of "Executive Orders." I was disappointed.

Started to watch 'Rocketman', the Elton John biopic on Netflix. Camp schmaltz. Not very inclusive or 'woke' of me, I went back to the 'home page' due to the gay lovemaking scenes which I find distasteful and somewhat gut-churning.
Distasteful and gut-churning. How pathetic a comment is that? I presume you don't mind violence, straight sex-scenes, or bad language, but two men having sex is distasteful. So what. Get over yourself.

I enjoyed the books more than the movies. I have not watched Jack Ryan either, I just see Jim Halpert. I may give it a chance someday, others have said it is good.

And WangoTango, grow up.
Grow up how ? To where I want to watch men having sex together ? Sorry Ross, I am 53 and fully grown up morally. I will never like or desire to watch such things. If you enjoy such things and feel more grown up because of it, good for you. I did not watch Brokeback Mountain either, does that make me immature ? Or do I choose how to spend my entertainment time to suit my taste ?
Our views are different. But that's life. Me telling to grow up was wrong, I apologize. But two men having sex in a film is not the end of the world to me. I wrote a bigger reply to you, posted it then reconsidered. I could send it to you privately if you wish, if not the so be it. I hope you and your family stay safe at this crap time.

What looks like a kind of power armor and quoting the book. Could this finally be a Starship Troopers based off the book? No, it's a trap. Terrible movie based off the 90's movie and not the book, and it lacks all the Verhoeven flair. All animated and it's between terrible to mediocre. You're better off watching the 90's movie, or aliens, or just about any other sci-fi movie.

My conclusion is that the Starship Trooper property just needs to be retired and left alone.
Hey Hollywood, try something original!! I know that's a radical idea.

I'm sure some of you have done this: Finished James Bond 24 movie collection (spanning 1962 to 2015). My wife and I greatly enjoyed all of them (beauty in mind of beholder). Sad there are no more in the set.
The last four movies (beginning with 2005) are an obvious James Bond "reset/restart" -- taking into account 21st Century politics and technology.
Next movie in the series is to release at theaters in November 2021 (delayed from 2019 -- partly due to COVID). It probably closes the story line of the last 4 movies. We'll see later this year.
Given how well watching in our house is turning out (we built a nice viewing area with special equipment), we may never go to another "theater" -- just wait for the Blu-ray.

.
Not partly but entirely due to COVID. The last thing MGM wanted was a release date postponement for a film from their flagship franchise when you consider the dire financial straits MGM has been in for several years.
Concerning the closing storyline, that indeed will be the case since the new film is Daniel Craig's final appearance as Bond.

WT, But two men having sex in a film is not the end of the world to me.
Two men or two women can't have sex with one another, as sex is a means of reproduction and requires two opposing sex orders of opposite gender.
They do not have sex. As I protested to a militant homosexual college professor decades ago(almost failed the class as a result, but it was worth the D and my effort), they are only having anal masturbation via phallic insertion.
To mods: I apologize if this crosses the line, but frankly I feel this needed to be clarified.

This afternoon we watched: Alexander Revisited The Final Cut (2007) -- a 3.5hr extended version of Alexander (2004) and Alexander Director's Cut (2005).
Oliver Stone wrote it was his final attempt to get "Alexander" right. The cover describes the attempt as "Vast, Riveting and Madly Audacious".
A couple major battles but the rest of the 3.5hrs attempted to describe/get-inside Alexander "the man" -- using a variety of techniques. We enjoyed it.
