You just run the custom front-end(s) or eaw.exe directly,

It depends which version or source mod your running, what are you trying to run?

Hey Pathfinder,

i had to get Win10 a week ago, with a new PC, cause my win7 system died. I was suprised how easy it was to get EAW going.
I dont had to do anything special, though, the FPS is not what it was before. Max 30 fps on my PC, but it dont got below 20 for now, so its good plyable. Thats a known issue and in glide with a glidewrapper i get 60fps.

Greetings,

Knegel

I'm a Cheshire cat too, given that I am a jazz musician who was born in Stockport smile
Apart from the use by Lewis Carrol in the Mad Hatter's tea party do you know the origin of the term "Grinning like a Cheshire cat", and for that matter why the hatter was mad?

wink Jel

Apparently in the reign of Henry VIII there was a "Catesby" family in Cheshire. For whatever reason they had good fortune over a long period of time.
Their happiness caused them to grin, and it is said that Henry VIII coined the phrase, but with the name shortened smile

I'm getting 36 to 43 FPS in Direct3D, straight Win10 , no wrapper program.
I use to get 30fps max using the same hardware (same video card etc), except with an older wide screen monitor.
When i upgraded my monitor to a recent modern wide screen, I got the more FPS. The refresh rate is set to 120, the old was maxed at 59hz.

EDIT: (The following is separate subject from what I was talking about above).
I installed the Official Microsoft DirectX9 online web installer. Since I don't know how to uninstall it I assume its still in place. (You probably needed to do a restore point to uninstall it).
You may benefit from this on some systems, but it won't hurt it if you do try it.

IDK how it works, but I cloned a Win 7 Pro drive to a SSD and installed the SSD as an slave drive on my win 10 computer. The games on the Win 7 drive, although NOT being installed on the Win 10 computer, play just fine. I was told this was not possible, but it works for me. I just go into "This computer" and select Win 7 drive.

FWIW, running a Win 10 PRO Opsys as Master Drive, and the Slave Drive is Win 7 PRO Opsys.

eh, I mentioned this before, but Win10 seems to write reg file entries if it needs to , even for a non-installed game, as your Win7 games are considered to win10.

Some of my games I had on a 2nd drive, wiped my primary and installed win10.
Eventually I noticed win10 had reg entries for those games.

Your looking for problems down the road. Unless you use win7, id move the games to a 'clean' folder and get rid of win7.
You don't want to be able to 'see' win7 from win10 anyhow..... but I'm no expert..... so I can really say what would happen.

But if you like it and deal with it, whom am I to tell you otherwise. smile
