Bought the new BH&H II software a couple days ago. Question: I have enlisted in a British and German squadron and found that every flights is solo only. Has the software yet to be released to includes daily combat squadron sorties as in WOFF PE or UE? The only exception has been American an squadron which had the combat flights operations as in PE and UE.

Hi,

It's quite probable you've enlisted in squadrons that are not yet fully operational. Check the squadron status on the main screen. Your mission frequency will also show as 'none'.

If that's the case you won't fly proper sorties until they become operational, you'll fly solo flights to test your machine and get used to the area.

"A great deal of an aeroplane could be holed without affecting its ability to fly. Wings and fuselage could be—and often were—pierced in 50 places, missing the occupants by inches (blissfully unaware of how close it had come until they returned to base). Then the sailmaker would carefully cover each hole with a square inch of Irish linen frayed at the edges and with a brushful of dope make our aircraft 'serviceable' again within an hour."

If you are based in England and NOT in a Home Defence, then the squadron is forming up and getting ready etc. Use the T+ in bottom right of campaign screen to advance to a time they are in France and active.
If you are in a H.D. squadron (and usually nearer to the SE coast) then a new button appears like ">>!" this can advance to next historical event. Historical even is such as the famous Gotha / Zep Raids etc
T+ advances a mission. day , week, month.

If early in the war, in any nation's squadron career check the squadron's status, it may say 'forming up' or other operational status. Advance time if you want to get to the action. Look for Status: Operational: Fighter Squadron top left in campaign screen. Or "Operational: Home Defence" or similar etc

OR when creating a pilot, choose "Manual Squad Deployment" to create a pilot in a squadron manually and here you can see where they are based and their status, and you can also advance time, day month or year until you see them in action - then join it there.

So when "Status" says "Operational" usually you will be in the action.

(See WOFF BH&H II FAQ on our support page which goes over creating a pilot in Section 4 and 30 for more info - I just added all this to the FAQ too section 67).

Also note very early in the war you will have more solo flights - and a button may appear to allow solo flights prior to 1916.

Also check what the mission actually says. If it's a free flight and says something like test your rigging, or hone your flying skills you are not active...

1916 in BJ&H II? It was 1917 in PE, wasn't it? Or was that a typo?

As far as I remember it's up to 1917 (i.e. to the end of 1916). Ah we missed a marketing trick there would have sold millions..
