Anyone know of a way to send a fax for free. I need to send about 400 pages to a government fax machine, because they say email is unsecure and won't allow Dropbox or such to be used. It has PII, but I don't want to pay for it if possible.

It is going to be cheaper to mail it.

If sending to the government, I'd make sure somebody has to sign for it.

You need to have/borrow a copier/scanner with a phone connection, then have/borrow a landline connection and then fax it over.
Ask your friends to find out who still has a landline, a lot of people keep one for emergency use.

If sending to the government, I'd make sure somebody has to sign for it. Even then it's risk. Doesn't Fed Ex have some kind of registered delivery? Although, I'm sure that would be a few bucks.

It is, going to have to mail it. Can't hand carry it.

Who the hell still sends stuff via conventional fax machines? Oh right...this is the Federal government we are talking about. Doctors and Specialists too. Wheels

Yes, the ones who are over 60 years old. Man don't I wish. Every new doctor I see that asks for stuff to be faxed instead of emailed just floors me. Even the Pharmacy wants the prescriptions faxed to them. Wheels

Even the Pharmacy wants the prescriptions faxed to them. Wheels It is far more secure to fax than it is to email. Unless the doctor/pharmacy has an encrypted portal or email-based encryption platform, your information is at risk for being stolen. With a fax, unless someone has a direct tap on the phone line of the doctor or pharmacist, your information is safe until printed in the office. There, a worker could always photograph the private bits but... this is far less of a problem than intercepting unencrypted emails. Of course, even encryption doesn't prevent a compromised system in the office from stealing the information once it is accessed and visible on the screen.

More and more pharmacies are doing away with accepting prescriptions faxed from a doctor's office, especially if it is a controlled substance prescription. The new norm is doctors using encrypted apps to send in prescriptions. They are starting to even do away with the old fashioned written prescription pad ones.

Heh, I just asked my wife who is a pharmacy manager at a major hospital and she says that indeed more and more prescriptions are sent electronically but faxes are still used in certain cases so it's not phased out totally yet.
