Heather, before she went Batsh*t. Not quite Sean Young level of batshi* but close.

Heather, before she went Batsh*t. Not quite Sean Young level of batshi* but close. I think Heather had a long term problem with benzodiazepines, like Stevie Nicks. Stevie was able to get help from treatment, Heather had a much harder time dealing with her issues. She unfortunately had a few very public displays of mental breakdowns. I have always hoped she could get the proper help she needs. Of course, I always thought she was a total smoke show in her younger years.

[quote=Crane Hunter]Pretty much every forum on the internet has been declining since the early 2010s, few people under 40 bother to participate in what's seen as an archaic format.
Places like Reddit work via an up vote system which means only popular, often dumb things rise to the top. You're not going to see a well thought out post because it gets less up votes. It also doesn't order stuff in chronological order, which makes a discussion hard to follow. You can sort by age, that's how I have mine configured. I agree - the up/down rating system tends to promote a lot of stupid junk.
Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as "bad luck.” -Robert Heinlein

does simhq has a discord presence ? There is a simhq discord, but I'm not sure if it's "official." It is fairly active too. I searched "SimHQ" in the app and nothing came up. Let me know if this link works or not. The server is called "Sim" and it's owned by Master. https://discordapp.com/channels/138718685589274624/139023753802678272/139023835549663233Here is the original thread about it from a few years ago. https://SimHQ.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/4218572/Searchpage/1/Main/403956/Words/%2Bdiscord/Search/true/discord-chat#Post4218572

And this to me is the attraction. . Same here but we also need to be aware that the average age of the SimHQ poster is probably between 45 and 55.

I have only 2 forums in my bookmarks and have had for quite a few years. I fail to see what's wrong with the format but then I am an old git.
I've been in the SimHQ Steam user group for years but apart from a very rare chat I've not had any interaction with it.
I'm just looking through it now, with its 300+ members and I see names that have long since departed here.
To name a few I see online right now, Ice, AggressorBLUE, Panzer (hi Panzer!), Meurig and Para_Bellum.

My two cents as someone who never posted much but who at least frequented the site much more in the past: life goes on. In 2012 I moved overseas; I had to leave my gaming PC behind and left simming behind with it. Lack of space and -- thanks to a new career and new relationship -- lack of time meant that simming just never bounced back for me. If I game nowadays it's on the couch with a small living room PC and limited to stuff I can pick up and run with for a good 30-45 mins of fun. I also tend to do much more of my browsing and content consumption on mobile. SimHQ isn't especially optimized for mobile so I really just lurk here and there. I admit I do spend a lot more time on Reddit and other users are right, the voting system and typical user age means a lot of garbage floats to the top. The secret is to unsubscribe from many of the big default subreddits and instead find pages with the topics you like. I spend a lot of time on the subs that that align with my niche interests like chess, photography, and running, and the communities are all quite close and knowledgeable. Plus, I enjoy having a lot of the content localized in one place.

I also used to really like to read AAR's for various sims, but I think youtube has replaced the need for written AAR's. There was a certain story telling element to an AAR, but otherwise watching an HD recording of the actually mission is a lot more fun than reading about it with a few screen shots.
There was a time when I went back and forth between combatace and SimHQ depending on what sim I was looking for info on. There's actually a different forum I go to now for info on flight sims. I just come to SimHQ to browse CH and PWEC.

There isnt an official SimHQ discord. A bunch of us made an unofficial one a while back. I renamed it to just "sim" a while back to not confuse people. Here is an invite link or someone could make an official SimHQ discord. https://discord.gg/mRDkA4g6Uj

Yeah, me too. Thank God I hate chariots!

Look for me on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or Tic Toc...or anywhere you may frequent, besides SimHq, on the Global Scam Net. Aka, the internet. I am not there, never have been or ever will be, but the fruitless search may be more gratifying then the "content" you might otherwise be exposed to.
