I have frequented SimHQ for longer than I can remember (or care to at this point, seeing as the first sims I TRULY embraced were MSCFS 1 & 2, and IL-2 sturmovik [original])
Though I haven't been a contributing member as much as I'd like, I feel as though things are falling out. I remember with vivid detail the times I was deployed in Kabul, reading the "after action reports" of Beach in F4, and eventually F4AF, and being fully engrossed in all of the strike missions, the furballs, the amazing events of a sim that was, at that time about 20 year old. I learned so much from the great contributors here, and felt like a member of a community of (niche) enthusiast. However, I'll head to the home page and I'll see the last article on the home page was from 2017. and beyond that , nothing has been posted in terms of relevance even in many of the forums sub-sections for so long.
Can anyone help me here? Used to love this platform as a standard go-to. Missing the old school SimHQ

Which is a shame, as forums are often a far better method of sharing information than a discord channel, and are especially better at allowing people to find information. It frustrates me. I get that discord is fast, but in a 'new player help' channel in discord how many times does the same question come up? In a forum people can search for it, or you can have a stickied thread, or similar.

This is it right here. The traditional internet forum is quickly going down the same path as printed encyclopedias and genuine rock music. As Mad Max alluded to, everything goes through changes for either better or worse depending on your perspective.

It's a shame though. This site use to be so alive. I don't think Discord can replace what this site offers. Reddit is just an unsupervised zoo and I don't do Facebook. I like Twitter, or should I say I use Twitter, but that covers my other interests besides sims. This is still may favorite website.
Still my homepage WT.Best we can do is circle the wagons. As we age friends will be lost but old timers can still post and share.I'm not kissing cousins with all the members here but enjoy their posts and have a good deal of respect for them and their opinions.I've learned a lot here

+1
I plan on being on SimHQ until it's taken from my dead cold hands.

There are a lot of forums out there that were far more active in their heyday than SimHQ was, and are now at the point where even in their main sections the last posts are days or even weeks old.

I don't think so. There's a SimHQ community group on Steam but that never really took off.

I just don't get the appeal of the clunky reddit style format, nor can I really connect with the generations of gamers who are obsessed with abusing a game's mechanics for an advantage {muh meta}, and acquiring " likes" and silly achievements.
There is a SimHQ discord, but I'm not sure if it's "official." It is fairly active too.
Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as "bad luck.” -Robert Heinlein

Agreed. Few forums are around. The big ones are being closed even if they have a large community. Xbox, Playstation, and games no longer have official forums. Reddit has taken that place and does a half-assed job at it. Better than Discord/Twitter, but worse than a regular form. Problem with other formats is they are inefficient for screen space (yes, even on phones) so you don't see much information. Places like Reddit work via an up vote system which means only popular, often dumb things rise to the top. You're not going to see a well thought out post because it gets less up votes. It also doesn't order stuff in chronological order, which makes a discussion hard to follow.
I was hoping for a movie dubbed of Hitler telling me that SimHQ caused his ruin or some such amusing thing.
Also, SimHQ is for the less click baited crowd. It waxes and wanes, And it confirms to me that there are less games that I want to play that are out now unless someone here gets excited.

I've decided to leave SimHQ permanently. My final post will be on Friday, April 16, 2055.
Seriously though, I'm not posting much as I'm crazy busy. You'll see, but sadly Mr. Arnold Hendrick (MicroProse's Stealth Fighter series) won't, as I just found out that he died last May... https://corporate-ient.com/in-memory-of-arnold-hendrick/
