Not trying to be TOO cynical but that looks like a million other WW II shooters that I've seen and played before.

And you are probably right, feels like Battlefield with a bit more realism. There is some grinding to achieve certain Weapons, Tanks and Aircraft after a few level ups. It's only 10-12 Gigs so not the 40 Gig install COD demands and it runs very smooth at medium graphic settings without losing eye candy. It's worth a try.

I blame kids these days. If a game doesn't have levels and #%&*$# to unlock they don't play it more than 15 minutes. In my day we didn't have unlocks and played the old Red Storm Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon all day long with no levels or unlocks and we liked it that way!

Plus, publishers prefer it this way as they can then just charge people to skip some levels or level up faster and they make more off that than charging 60 bucks for a game with all that included.

Bingo. Just look at Rainbow Six: Siege as a prime example.

Well, to be fair almost all "games" have this to some degree, even Red Orchestra. You gain skill, you get a better weapon. You get more kills, you get equipment upgrades etc.
As I said it's a small install relatively and doesn't take too long to get right into.

When you go on operations in the real world, you are supplied by your government with the training, the uniform and the equipment and weapons that you will need to perform your task.
There is no levelling up... you are already trained to a peak that will enable you to follow your drills and hopefully succeed.
When they start making games that actually follow that mantra I may be interested in buying them biggrin

ArmA 3 is a perfect fit for you then.

That's of course not completely true.
You will not want to hand a grenade launcher to the recruit that just passed basic training and never actually was trained to use that particular weapon.
Similarly, you might have to have served for some time as regular grunt and/or passed further tests and trainings to qualify/apply for other specialist roles and weaponry, or special forces ..
So there is also some "unlocking" feature in the real world, it's just called qualifications, trainings, ...

Read that bit of my statement again.
Before you go on ops everyone that is taking part has already been trained to fulfill their roles, carried out rehearsals, and has, in your terms 'levelled up'...
