I just revisited my "dxwnd" installation and made some changes that gave great framerates in single missions with UAW160

These were my dxwnd settings:

In this screenie I was in d3d at an ini resolution1920x1080 which is my monitor full screen:

A genuine 55 FPS which occasionally touched 60 wink

Boo hiss frown

I was trying it as an alternative to the d3dWindower, but unlike the d3d windower it does not fix the single mission selection map screen problem:

How long did it take you to come up with those settings?
Took me a few hours of testing, last year.

If you have selected glide and use NGlide, it has been set to use 32bit with ALL that it is used with as stated by Zeus Software.

In the "Readme File" that comes with the installation.

"Q: Does nGlide render in 16-bit color depth?
A: No. All is converted and rendered in 32-bit, no matter what color depth mode is selected in-game. This eliminates color banding problem"
So setting the DirectX tab is counter productive.

I use an ATI Graphics card RX 570 series Win 7
I use nGlide with the latest DxWind and get constant 60 fps with no corruption anywhere.
I use Glide as D3D is very jittery / low fps.

The new DxWind has many more tabs now,
so if anyone wants a screenshot of the ini file settings, I'll post it.

In win10 with DXWND I get 70+ FPS. though I believe that's why it maybe jittery on my system. Otherwise I'd use it all the time for Direct3D Mode in EAW.

Go ahead post your "optimal" settings dxwnd ini!

I get good FPS with nGlide in both W10 and W7, and I do not have the map screen problem in Win 7 if I use nGlide.
My only reservation is that according to Zeus when we set-up Glide 3 in the code-group exes the "eaw ini" needs to be 1024x768.
If I do not use that setting the picture quality is bad.

If that is the FPS according to DWWND then I have every reason to believe that it is wildly exaggerated.

I dont get it anymore, it was displayed with EAW counter, I think that was at 1024x768 and in a Window Frame, but the smoothness was crap..... read what i get in the other thread....26fps now in DXWND., no jitter though.

Just going back to basics I will not use DXWND in Windows 7 because it does not fix the map screen problem frown
If I need higher frame rates in Windows 10 then I will use nGlide.

This whole issue came about because somebody contacted me re-problems with Windows 7 wink

Yeah DXWND can fix garbled menus in Win7, Your system seems to be an exception, You had win7 garbled menus for a long time, yet registry workarounds should have solved that issue for you in the past, but have not.

I do not get garbled menus in Win 7, just the single mission map screen.
Years ago there was a registry fix in XP but it was no longer applicable when Vista was released.
It is not a problem for me because the d3dWindower fixes it for single missions, and I do not need anything for multiplayer games as there is no map screen.

Just adding to that if I need to set up a single mission in Windows 7 I can run EAW in the d3d windower to get the map to set the targets and bases, and then fly.
My frame-rates will be about 30 fps, which is OK, but if I want better ones I exit straight away after take-off.
The mission is automatically saved so I can launch EAW again immediately without the d3dWindower, select the same plane and fly with framerates of 60 fps in 1920x1080 smile
