So, the US Air Force is developing autonomous drones as part of what they call the Skyborg program. I mean, after Skynet and the Borg, aren't they just kind of asking for it now?
Don't worry, they are being built by connected contractors hiring nothing but a diverse workforce.
What could go wrong?
Look how good they have done with the F-35...oh wait
edit:
• Boeing, which received $25.7 million;
• General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, which received $14.3 million;
• Kratos Unmanned Aerial Systems Inc., which received $37.8 million.
Who is Kratos?
General Atomics had built the most cost effective combat aircraft in forever, and they get less than a third of Kratos funding?
I smell Generals...

Look for me on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or Tic Toc...or anywhere you may frequent, besides SimHq, on the Global Scam Net. Aka, the internet. I am not there, never have been or ever will be, but the fruitless search may be more gratifying then the "content" you might otherwise be exposed to.

For those of us old enough to have our jaw drop every time we saw an F-14 or F-15 (if just in pictures and movies). The F-4 still looked badass at the time (bested only by the Viggen, IMO), but the new twin-finned fighters were something else entirely.
The Fulcrum and Flanker looking every bit as lethal, and even more elegant.
Only Hollywood could do better...

I grew up just outside of Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska, and it frequently gets the highest-end aircraft, and that was the case with the F-15. I remember being in my low teens when they arrived, and all of the announcements for the annual air show said it would be on display, but not flying.
They had F-4E Phantoms, which as you say, were also very cool looking, especially with their SEA paint schemes, and for part of the show, they announced the F-4s were going to do a maximum performance take off, as though they were taking off for an interception mission. They came down the runway, and were just getting off the ground when an F-15, unannounced and already off the ground and gear up, came streaking by and then shot straight up into the sky, just to show off how much more power it had and taking the crowd by surprise. Everybody broke into cheers, and it came back and did a little demonstration.

Kratos sounds like the name of a Marvel universe bad a$$ villain.

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

And in Greek mythology he the son of Pallas and Styx and personification of strength. One of Zeus' goons who helped his rise to power. He was also one of the characters that captured and tied down Prometheus. Most of the other ancient stories he was in have been lost, forgotten, or destroyed.

Now why can't *that* be on YouTube?!

The F-4 Phantom was one of the coolest looking planes ever. Viewed from about 30-50 degrees on any quadrant they always reminded me of a shark. Shaw AFB flew the recce version the entire three and a half years I was there, most of which time my shop was about 100 yards from where they'd start their takeoff roll. So loud that you couldn't hear yourself scream at the top of your lungs.
Arthonon, I was stationed at Elmendorf from early '79 to early '82. The Eagles were just starting to arrive when I was about to ship out. First place I ever saw their airbrakes deployed.
And as big a Clint Eastwood fan as I am, the book "Firefox" was WAY better.

"Firefox Down!" is a good read as well, IMO. I just need a backup of the second book...
