Several people have already downloaded the patch, but I am beginning to wonder if it is worth installing the GoG 1.2 in the first place. Sure, if you want a nostalgia hit and can tolerate the difficulties in making selections on the parameters screens then get it If you need the improved frame-rates then that is another reason. However, on my PC if I use glide in Win 10 I get frame-rates around 60 fps flying UAW160, and if I had an nVidia card I would get horizon fog (which I get anyway with my AMD card). In Windows 7 flying UAW160 at GameRanger last night I got 60 fps in d3d: So effectively I have no frame-rate issues, and have no need for the GoG version.

Moggy, while I broadly agree with your sentiment, there is a risk of loss of certain function if the GOG people upgrade to 1.28 via the patch. For example, some might lose their horizon fog in d3d, if using an nVidia card, a considerable visual degradation for people mostly accustomed to a high graphical standard. If they opt for Glide as a solution, they will find themselves losing true widescreen, another considerable degradation, both in graphics and gameplay. These risks would need to be spelt out in advance, I would think. The GOG version seems to be very well optimised for people with modern computers-we ought to be careful with jeopardising this.

It is the Tuesday after Easter and looking at the GoG EAW forum very little is happening: I could be wrong, but this may be an indication which reflects the number of downloads. Sixteen threads since February 13th, and the only one that is in any way active is the UAW160. The original author, sebastianpons, took my advice and we are dealing with the issues that he has raised here at SimHQ

Wishful thinking Roy Check this: https://www.gog.com/forum/european_air_war#161744164916 threads since Feb 13th and nothing since April 3rd. Of the 16 four are mine and one is Moggy's. There is virtually no feedback. The activity from new members in this forum at SimHQ is minimal, only sebastianpobs has responded and that was at my suggestion. You can bet your bottom dollar that the downloads from my MediaFire page will be all from SimHQ readers. Just for comparison there have been 842 downloads of my 2020 UAW160 installation
