Agreed, very interesting indeed, thanks for sharing, Casey.

And James, don't you just look like one who could cut a swathe. Put you in some vintage flying gear and you'd pass for one of the Kaiser's best.

Very interesting LtCasey thanks. I must say that Bismarck is looking good for his age though.

Another of your skin jobs OvS? biggrin

"A great deal of an aeroplane could be holed without affecting its ability to fly. Wings and fuselage could be—and often were—pierced in 50 places, missing the occupants by inches (blissfully unaware of how close it had come until they returned to base). Then the sailmaker would carefully cover each hole with a square inch of Irish linen frayed at the edges and with a brushful of dope make our aircraft 'serviceable' again within an hour."

Yes, that's me. Pol, Sandbagger and I met up there one year when I was on a 2-week long course in LHR. It was a great day and we had a lot of fun. The RAF Museum is a personal favorite of mine as I got to see a lot of things that we don't ever see in the States. The Hurricane, Bf-109, Stuka... etc.

We really had a great time. The pic was a funny little story... When we walked into the main lobby, we asked where the WWI display was and were in shock to find out that it was closed. Well.. we'd have none of that... and with a little American "shuck n' jive" (sweet talking) of the nice receptionist that saw the blatant disappointment in our faces, she made a quick phone call and we were given EXCLUSIVE permission to come and view the display. Naturally, it helped a lot that Sandbagger is an RAF Vet, and we talked a lot about our ventures with the game, meeting each other in person for the first time and that I was from the States. They were really cool about the whole thing. Our only rule was that we could not climb into the cockpits. Other than that, we had the whole display to ourselves to get up-close and personal.

So we did. Sandbagger's eyes popped out when he got to see an Fe2b, I was drooling all over the Alb D.Va and Pol... well... he just looked like a kid in a candy shop with a big sweet tooth.

Thanks again for posting and reminding me of that special day!
