That was a fascinating video, thanks for the post.
835 sailors lost,100 of which were boy sailors. Such a tragic loss. One of my best friends joined the navy as a boy sailor. He once showed me that he had 'port' and 'starboard' tattooed on his arse.

When you say "boy sailor" I assume you mean they were under 18 when they enlisted?
I read up on some info about Gunther Prien who was the U-Boat commander who sank the Royal Oak. He was KIA while attacking a convoy off the western coast of Ireland in March 1941.

I had a relative, grandmother's brother, who was a boy soldier in WW1. He was sent home when it became known his age. He re-enlisted when of age and died in Nov 1917 on the opening day of the Battle of Cambrai.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

He was KIA while attacking a convoy off the western coast of Ireland in March 1941. It was a bad couple of weeks for the ubootwaffe, as within two weeks they lost Prien, Shepke and Kretschmer (captured). Prien's loss wasn't announced for nearly 10 weeks because of the effect it would have on morale at home.
No, now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

The death of Günther Prien U-47 left Lorient (France) for her tenth patrol on 20 February 1941. Only four days later they attacked convoy OB 290 and sank four ships totalling 16,310 tons. The last radio message from U-47 was received on the morning of 7 March, giving a position south of Iceland in the North Atlantic. It had been long supposed that U-47 was sunk with all hands (45) on 8 March 1941. Günther Prien boarded U-47 for the last patrol on 20 February 1941. This is now being questioned, as the traditional credit for U-47's sinking has always gone to the British destroyer HMS Wolverine, but new data suggests that this destroyer actually attacked Eckermann's UA, which was forced to withdraw with heavy damage. It is now suspected that U-47 may have been hit by one of her own circling torpedoes. (Two US submarines in the Pacific are also believed to have been lost to the same sort of equipment failure.) https://www.uboat.net/men/commanders/

Those Scots and their accent though :-P
Orcadians, like Shetlanders, a race & dialect apart. It will be a sad day when everybody has the same homogenous speech. You mean to say that not everyone in the UK sounds just like Prince Charles and Elizabeth II?
