Hi photography guys, does anyone know if this is still a useful piece of equipment in 2021?

As far as I can see it is a photo, slide & film scanner. It utilises a SCSI interface so I have no way of testing it. It comes complete with all packaging, manual, film adapters, cables and CD Roms.

My sister wants to sell it on eBay as it no longer has a use. In fact I don't think she's ever used it but it's not new, just in very good condition.

This is the model (not the actual one) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/26506579...msclkid=0639cb451d8f18c38718ab1cca2c44c4

Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.

OK, well, first disclosure: I have no idea how much demand there is, nor how well this device works, from any personal experience, so keep that in mind when reading everything that follows smile

I think the device would have a use for anyone who has 35mm slides that they would like to have in digital format. The resolution is not super high, but good enough for most online viewing. I don't know how many people have a need for that, and want to do it themselves rather than send off for it.

Additionally, it looks like it uses a SCSI interface, which is pretty much non-existent these days, so some kind of adapter would be needed. I did a quick search and it seems they are available and not expensive, so that shouldn't be a show-stopper, but people would have to know it's needed and that it's available.

Maybe just monitor the auctions you see on ebay and see how quickly they sell, and for what, to get a feel for the demand for it.

I didn't get into photography before digital, so I have no slides or negatives to scan, which limits my expertise on this, but there may be others who have a ton of stuff that they'd like scanned.

Thanks Arthonon. That is exactly what it was to be used for. Our father was a keen photographer and had a huge selection of slides that we used to sit down as a family to view (when families still did that sort of thing).

Your advice seems sound,I will make sure she adds a note about the SCSI interface. My sister is short of funds so anything not nailed down is going on ebay smile
