Well, I've almost got the hang of it now although I find it easier (not quicker) to fire off the probes whilst orbiting the planet in S/C.
I think I need to do it from a stop for a quicker result. Can someone explain the probe aiming again? If I want to hit the back of the planet where do I aim? What does the tick mark indicate?
Thanks.

To hit the back side, go to an extreme, where is says miss (I think) and then back off a little. Fire it then hit the key assigned to see the other side (Y by default? if on PC) to see where it hits and adjust as necessary for the next one. Don't forget to flip the view back or things can get confusing haha.
If you fire with the tick mark centered the probe will hit on the horizon, or edge. Some bodies are moving fast and you need a little Kentucky windage sometimes. Gravity may play a part too?
If you stop you can get off all probes within a few seconds once you get the hang of it. Probe radius makes a big difference. Felicity can do G3 which helps a bunch. But it can be done without it no problem, only the efficiency bonus becomes harder to get.

I did wonder if I had to allow for planet rotation speed/gravity. I guess the more I do the better I will get because at the moment 50% of the planets I'm not making the scanning bonus.

50% of the planets I'm not making the scanning bonus. When you get 100% of the planet scanned, you will get the full bonus. I think you have to get to 80% and then it considers it fully scanned, as long as you're equal to or under the estimated probes to scan said planet, then you get the efficiency bonus.

The max buy quantity of rares is dependent on system state. How often it cycles I couldn't say, but was always ready by the time I returned from dropping off the first load. I think it's like 10 or 15 minutes to reset. Maybe a re-log takes care of it? I logged on a couple times yesterday and did little other than run rescues. I converted my rumble bus Krait with econocabins. The Orca is perfect for these due to its cool-running,but seats 86. The rumble bus seats 104 so I switched to get moar. In all I rescued 4,300+ desperate souls during this incursion. That earned the G2 Captain's badge when I delivered my 10,000th passenger That's enough of that for a bit haha.

On the other hand, Odyssey is adding FPS to Elite, so why not go the extra mile and add RTS elements where you can send your autonomous fleet out to do boring things like mining and exploration while you do the FUN stuff like....like... er... um...you know...uh...HELP ME OUT HERE!
For the record I HATE RTS games...

How often does Fujin tea respawn? I need the thermal vents on my beams.
DBond is correct at 15 minutes. You could also enlist one of us to accompany you to the station, buy the max amount and then transfer them to you outside the station. We've done this numerous times to assist commanders. You just need collector controller and limpets.

Is there any way of exiting S/C Assist without going to the nav panel? I can't seem to find a key binding for it (assuming there is one).

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not?
I'd just fired off 4 probes (6 probe job) to map a planet when I was interdicted. When I went back to the DSS it said the 4 probes had impacted but the planet mapping had reset. Seems a little unfair to me if intentional.

I can fire beams and rails infinitely now without overheating, and have shields. This is super amusing.

Same thing with a 4A Beam and 7 MC's, have to watch the power when I'm firing the MC's, but it's minimal, melt them suckers!!
