This is a link to a site by a local historian who chronicles the history of my homeland in the world wars of the 2oth century. Lots of reading here for those who have time on their hands. As many of you know, my father went from being a local police officer, to working at USAAF Ft. Pepperell here in St. John's in 1942 or 43 I hope it's of interest

Thanks for posting this! I'll check it out today.

So I must ask. Is there a friendly rivalry between Newfoundland and Nova Scotia? biggrin

Very nice Archie. thumbsup

PM, Newfie was not part of Canada at that time.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

I know but there could have still been a rivalry due to their relatively close geographic locations.

There is a bit of a a rivalry I suppose PM. We actually had very little dealings with the maritime provinces prior to joining Canada in 1949. Our two major trading partners were the New England States and Britain. There was ,in fact , a fair bit of 'mistrust' of Canada and Canadian politics. That however is a whole other story smile
