The vic formation as far as RAF doctrine was concerned was to maintain cohesion to enable hand or wing signals to be read in the times when r/t didn't exist or was notoriously unreliable. Also was considered to be the most effective formation to concentrate fire using the ill-fated rigid format 'fighting Area' attacks on the expected massed unescorted bomber formations coming from German airfields. Fighter escort wasn't accounted for in this theory, as Luftwaffe fighters would not have the range. British defence was completely unprepared for the unimaginable fall of France, bringing the deadly 109 and the much vaunted heavy fighter 110 within a few minutes of flight time from our shores. Following much attrition adhering to the old methods experienced by Hurricane squadrons over the Continent, many enterprising squadron leaders unofficially adapted looser formations and ditched the unworkable FA attack formations, along with installing rear view mirrors and armoured seat plates and windscreens. Disastrously, the Air Ministry Wallahs (as usual) were slow on the uptake of the new adaptions required resulting in the unnecessary loss of aircraft and pilots. Next week; "Miss Shilling's Orifice".

Thank you for that great info BD-123. Were you a fighter pilot? I couldn't fight my way out of a wet paper bag mate. Just an inept wannabe thrashing haplessly through the virtual skies. Apart from not having the ability or qualifications, I suffer badly from motion sickness. Seasick on a rowing dinghy in a quiet English cove for instance. I used to fall out of aircraft on a regular basis though. I could stand the ascent, but once a student jumper who occupied the door space in the Cessna 172 as he was static line jumping at a lower altitude who refused to jump was rewarded with my Full English Breakfast down the back of his neck as the pilot did a violent wing-over and fast descent.

Started watching the original "Star Trek" television series -- 79 episodes with graphics & sound greatly revised (Blu-Ray released in 2016). Total make overs include sharpened 4:3 images, redone sound, totally new "in space" graphics, ray gun discharges, etc. using modern computer generated images -- looks very good to my eyes on a 4K TV. Watch while riding exercise bike -- episodes are just the right length of time (45+ minutes).
My Wife and I are still in the midst of watching "James Bond" movie series and "Elementary" TV series -- both very good so far.

I always though Allison Mack was more attractive, at least before I heard she was wrapped up in that NXIVM business.
She apparently recruited Nicky Cline into NXIVM. She's known to Battlestar Galactica fans as "Callie".

No not weird. Gorgeous! Her eyes have light of life in them. Without professional makeup and image editing she's nothing special. Anyways, it looks like she was/is NXIVM too.
