I haven't been around for a while. The last time I flew WOFF UE it was on a W7 64 bit machine. Now I have W10 (not that I wanted it) and have 3 versions of WOFF UE installations. One on a USB drive, one on a hard Disk and one on a CD

None of them will install. The USB gets to the Air Force Cross bin and stops. The CD stops on the first file - something to do with banned pilots. The Disk files also don't work.

What can I do now?

I am running W10 64bit and installing to a hard drive.

I could not get WoTR to run either until Mark said to rename OBDSplash.WMV to someting else. So if you find the equivalent start up video file and rename it then the program might work for you too.

I remember that problem which happened if you had deleted Windows Media Player.

But what I have is an installation problem. None of my backed-up installations work.

Based on your description, it sounds like you upgraded to win 10 over your win 7 base system. It also sounds like the WOFF installations you speak of on usb, harddisk and CD are the source WOFF installation files and not the installed WOFF application. If I am wrong, please clarify.

Have you tried a fresh install of WOFF following the FAQ? It is wise to use the FAQ uninstall procedure first before re-installing.

Maybe backup your career pilots data first.

...try turning off or suspending your anti-virus for a time as you install (I have to do that every time I update) - they often tend to be "overaggressive" and prevent things from copying or working without even your knowledge that they are doing it. Anyway, try and see if that helps - it's worth a try.

JimAttrill, Please read the WOFF UE FAQ section 2-4 (see Support page on the WOFF website linked below). You can see how the files should look there's an image example of the files sitting in a folder.

If all 3 sources you have all fail it suggests either AV as Redwolf has said, (see section 7), or you are trying to install using files that are actually sitting inside a zip - copy them out to a temp folder first.

Not sure what an "Air Force Cross bin" is?

Its a picture of an Air Force Cross medal. I'll have a look at the FAQ. No, they are not zipped. Or in a zip. I stopped using that stuff in the days of DOS.

I tried again and this time it all worked! The installation took 20 mins in total.

I think I know why it didn't work before. BTW all three sets of files I had - backup on external hard drive, USB and CD had the correct names and exact sizes.

But one set was on a USB external hard drive, another on a USB flash drive and the others on a DVD.

I copied the set on the external hard drive to my C: drive and those worked..... Possibly the non-native drives aren't fast enough?

OK glad you are up and running, could be running from a USB stick that failed it, but as I say best to copy all files to a new temp folder and run from there.
