Some random pics from single missions & careers, all using Fifi's enhancement for Living Silent Hunter 3 (but not the mod itself, just the ARB widescreen fix, and H.Sie's realism mod with Tycho's map patch; the ones with tilted horizons are with the Ultimate Camera Mod).

Beautiful shots there 33lima. Very nice. Still a great looking sim. I'm a sucker for water reflections. I really like shot number 4 and the depth charge scene.

I can't tell by your pictures, but do you get any weird, almost light bands when at any depth. I always got this banding effect and could never get rid of it regardless of brightness or contrast.

Thanks Coot! Yes SH3 is still a good-looking subsim, which I much prefer to SH5, which I got recently and looks rather dull and washed out (granted it's mostly set in the North Sea and North Atlantic).

Yes I get horizontal bands - variations - of water colour under the surface. But it's barely visible to me, less so these days as I favour the zoomed in settings that come with come cameras.dat files (and with the Ultimate Camera Mod's cameras.val file) rather than the default external view. As I don't find the banding distracting I never bothered looking for a fix.

Thanks Adger! Now you mention the Grey Wolves mod, I had already downloaded it and having read Fiedler's advice on the DEF forums here...

http://www.donitzeliteflotilla.com/forum/index.php?topic=2838

...I used SH Front End to create a second install and applied GWX Gold - the all in one installer makes GW an attractive option compared to other mega-mods and so far I'm finding that ARB's widescreen mod is working fine. I'll probably break something trying out some other things but so far while it's good to have a second install for Fifi's excellent subs, I'm also liking what I'm seeing in GWX...

Still very much the best U-boat sim in 2021!

Brilliant, beautiful shots mate, I’ve got SH3 on DVD somewhere I’m definitely going to dig it out and have a nosy at Grey wolves again.

Did you ever have a try with SH4 with mods pal?

Believe it or not mate, my SH4 DVD is still shrink-wrapped! I know there's a U-boat add-on for it but if and when I go there, it'll be to play the US boats not the interlopers! But I much prefer the Battle of the Atlantic, it's still part of British folk memory, as you'll understand. 'Cruel Sea' and all that...

And closer to home - I was recently on a train to Londonderry for the first time in donkey's years and I'd swear you can still see the last remnants of the wooden piers at Lisahally where so many surrendered boats were tied up. Some spectacle!

If I can find a way of adding the super-detailed boats from Fifi's LSH enhancement - complete with the tampion's rope wound round the deck gun barrel and water draining from the casing - into GWX Gold, without breaking something, I'll be even happier.
