Nothing that will win any Oscars.
These days that could be a complement. True dat. I found some recent winners puzzling. The Oscars is an industry award show. It's not a popularity contest to appease the tastes of the general public. It seems most people forget that fact.

I saw two movies this weekend: 1) "North Sea Hijack" - thanks to a recommendation from here. Good movie, kept me watching, and they shuffled stuff around a bit through a twist here or there. Was interesting seeing Moore play the polar opposite to a womanizing Bond, where here he was a no apologies misogynist. *** out of **** 2) "Safe House" -- Ryan Reynolds usually stars in good movies--he has a knack for picking better scripts, usually. Denzel, on the other hand, seems to be stuck in the trope of the disgruntled badass dude. What I disliked about this movie was the poor development of the characters, both good and bad. We never had much to "hate" about the bad guys, nor to like about the good guys. They just existed, because. The way the film ended wasn't particularly powerful, either, because the character investment wasn't there. I didn't want to see the bad guys go down, but they did, and I didn't care. Still, wasn't a bad movie, but wasn't great either--I've seen worse. ** 1/2 out of ****

I saw this in the theater and it would have been a total waste of time had Denzel not been in it. As for the "disgruntled bad ass dude" typecast you can narrow that down exactly to the big success of "Man on Fire".

New Coke came out before you were born. If I remember correctly, New Coke came out in 1984 and it was taken off the market after a few months due to overwhelming negative reaction by consumers.

Watched The Queens Gambit on Netflix, over the weekend. Needed a change of pace after Your Honor (depressing). I enjoyed it, I really like when a time period is captured well in a story. And it is a story, based on a novel. I know NoFlyBoy compared Anya Taylor-Joy to an alien (previously in the thread). She does have large eyes, but she is an attractive young lady.
Have watched this 2 times now, The ending is awesome.

I agree JimK.
Now I have to find something new to binge. Same here. Good luck. Lot of bad movies to search through.

Don't forget that we knew the importance of radar and were able to allocate fighters only where needed.
