I have posted links to both youtube channels that collaborated on this in the pinned documentary thread, but this deserves it's own thread I think, it really helps make sense of a very confusing battle.

I watched that last night. It was one hell of a battle. Confusion, then uncertainty followed by more confusion just for good measure.

Guadalcanal was a very hard fought campaign that lasted several months. This was no quick decisive victory like Midway was.
