Hi All,
I don’t post very often, but I was at St. Eloi with RNAS 8 in September 1917 taking off about half an hour before sunrise. We had 4 German scouts about 10,000 ft. Overhead. We took off and they attacked. I chased an Alb DV around in the dark, until the EA flew through the searchlight beam just SE of St. Eloi and the searchlight beam tracked the EA! I have flown through friendly searchlights and they didn’t track me. I may be easily impressed, but I think this is amazing. Just wanted to share this. I shot the fellow down also 😁😁
Thanks

I'm inclined to believe that was coincidental if it was WOFF PE or UE. But I could be wrong. Hopefully Polovski will chime in to confirm if such actions were coded.

Nevertheless, that would have been an exciting experience to observe!

Best Regards

Oh no Robert, not coincidence, I've had it happen numerous times in the past, and again just recently with my DID pilot and a Gotha over St. Omer. And Sailor, I agree, it's the little touches like this that make this sim so very cool.

Cheers,

Lou

Those are the things that keep this sim interesting, or in my case, totally addicted. I would hate to know how many hours I have spent flying WOOF over the years and there is always those “Wow!” Moments that you have never seen before. A tip of the hat to OBD. Did I hear an update was coming? Stuffed with all sorts of treasures I’m sure.

I obviously stand corrected then Lou. Any idea if it was in UE or came in PE??
I guess I missed it due to so few night missions.

I can confirm what Lou said, (as if there were any doubt about the quality of his word) I have seen the searchlights tracking many a foe on an early morning scramble. Not that it ever helps me get to them to shoot down, as it is still really dark! I believe it goes back quite a way, probably before the UE...

I can confirm what Rick said about confirming what Lou said about the search lights tracking enemy planes. What I’ve never seen is the search lights on the German side. Always on the French side of the mud. Anyone ever experienced them east of the trenches?

I was flying WOFF PE. I love this sim and like MFair I don’t think I want to know how many hours I have flown since starting with Phase 3 many years ago. I also can’t wait for the next update.
