Awesome thanks, you guys just saved me!

I did try filtering, by clicking on carriers. But that made it so ONLY carriers appeared. Almost had a coniption. So what I want to do is click everything EXCEPT for carriers and they will be gone?

Bo and I were just talking about the Idiotic situation with the carriers last night! I ended up filtering them out also. This is STOOPID!!

I'm feeling like there's going to be a CG that has to do with it, you know bounties to kill carriers? HA

Sometimes I feel like I'd like the Goids to take over.....they wouldn't put up with this crap!! LOL

The advice you guys gave me is great, thanks again. Carriers are gone from my nav panel. A huge QoL improvement.

Logged on last night to get Duke over the line. It took a lot longer than predicted, slower progress due to mission board RNG. Since I was flying Poison Whiskey I started mixing in a some Terrorist and Pirate Lord missions, taking the Rep+++++ rewards. I was also getting interdicted more, including three consecutive Expert FAS. Bounties are appreciated, and thanks for serving yourselves up!

Turned in the Naval rank-up mission (I farmed another courier one) and another big batch of sensitive data/courier missions and hit Duke 16%. Then I flew to Jameson and bought my new ride. I made the right choice without a doubt. As I ran down the alternatives in that other thread it's so obvious that only one big freighter was going to cut it for me. It just happens to be Elite's most expensive ship. But that money's been spent now and I am really happy with my new boat.

I confess to fears about taking it home. I had visions of getting stuck in the slot and getting blown up by the station. No SCA (sold first) or DCs on my ships. Portside operations are one of my favorite parts of the game. Landing never gets old for me. But I made it through both slots without scraping my new paint (Tactical Ice for what it is worth) and landed it like a pro, smack on the money. This experience brought a grin to my mug.

There's plenty more to do to sharpen it out. And that will come.

So I don't know if it is still active, but I did my Imperial Rankup in the HIP 8444 system. Numerous DATA/TRANSPORT missions all going to the same station in HIP 8758. Basically NOTHING to KING in a week.

At the time, there were a lot of the old style stackable transport missions paying 5-10 mill a pop, so I made a LOT of credits while gaining Imperial Rank and stayed on for the Cash even after getting the KING ranking..

This song was running through my mind the whole time smile

That setup sounds like what I was looking for, and why I took the bus. Where I ended up had none of the transport missions going to the same stations as the data missions. It would have been considerably faster if it did. Your spot would have been better, but I'm still happy with my results, and I had a good time doing it.

For what it is worth, my triangle loop was Mainani - Ngalinn - Avitas.

I used Mainani as the hub. This system produced data missions for both of the other two. Ngalinn only had missions to go back to Mainani, and Avitas had none to either station. But there were so many to Avitas from Mainani that it was well worth the stop all the same. These systems are about 230 light years from Sol. One leg of the triangle was 3 light years, and the other, 20.

I remember when you flew through the ranks, and even commented on it when I had noticed it on Inara. That's amazing progress you made Rec.

Yep.. I remember. In part that's what led me to post the above, since I recalled that you had noticed, and I went back to my INARA mission log to find out the system.

Is there a faster way to mine crystalline formations? Holy heck that was a chore, at 30 - 40 minutes a site.

I made one interesting observation:

Gravity isn't modeled properly in Elite. On a couple of moons the shard chunks did not accelerate as fast as my SRV did from the height of their climb on the way down. On an airless moon, they should. One would expect a linear modeling of gravity at the least here, not even a more realistic progressive one from center of mass--but alas, we have neither.

Bio sites? You did it fast already. Each took me about an hour, give or take ten minutes I reckon. Without someone else shooting them down for you I can't see much in the way of speeding things up. If you fill up six bins with G4 raws you won't need to do it again for a while.

I did notice that higher gravity did show a different behavior with chunks.. Usually when I blasted a deposit everything would fly into the air and slowly settle on a low gravity world. Last place I went was higher gravity around 0.6 g and when I blasted the rocks, the fragments pretty much scattered at ground level. Also noticed much less of a boost when using SRV thrusters..but wasn't able to compare the two.

I think someone mentioned this the other night, but I was kind of oblivious since i didn't participate in the CG that granted this.

Might have to go collect some mats (HOPE I have enough trade bait for Datamined Wake Exceptions) to buy some of these super duper 5A FSD's.

Could get some more jump range out of the exploration ships (ASP/DBX) and the Python as well. Discount only good to March 12, so I guess I have to move on it.

When I got my first one I immediately thought of your new AspX Rec. Check the Madder Hops thread for details.

You don't have enough mats for one at the mo. You'll need more DWEs and a couple electromechanical arrays will get you two of these. Time to hit the traders. As I wrote in one of these threads, I hit the Jameson Cobra to fill up a G5 encoded bin and then traded for the DWEs since my wake scanning was just too slow.

Good to know the discount expiration. I mentioned these were marked down, but didn't know for how long. Get 'em while they're hot! I've got four so far and want at least two more.

I went to Jameson's Cobra before to stock up on tradable G5 Encoded but I burned them all when engineering the Corvette. Guess it's time for another trip. I have full bins of the more common encoded. We'll see what I can squeeze out of the Materials Trader for them. When I was doing Robigo Passenger runs, there was a fair number high grade mats, but I usually took the cash. Bad idea in retrospect...

Yeah, I always take the G5 mats if on offer these days. Although my bank account took a big hit yesterday, so maybe I'll start taking the cash haha.

You'll love these things Rec. That higher OM will give your AspX a nice boost. Let me know what it hits once the SuperDrives™ are mounted.

The last two mat zones I was able to max out in 15 - 20 minutes each, once I started using mouse to aim the turret like a battlemech.

A full bin is 150. Each crystal is worth three. So you need to find, detatch and scoop 50, minus what you started with. To do that in 15 minutes means three crystals per minute. Is that how fast you were doing this? And you want to do it faster?

It took 30 seconds just for the things to fall back to the ground for me haha. So I started jumping to meet them.

Yes.

I also did the jumping thing, but mostly it was an exercise of crystal optimization. As I shot one off I'd then identify other targets, while simultaneously moving my SRV to where I predicted the crystal would land. If I could, I'd shoot off one or two crystals nearby as I was doing this so they'd be dropped by the time I got there.

Falcon BMS target prioritization skills come in handy here.

The worst part is the 44 jumps out there. Good night. Worst thing ever.

I wish we had a busy Euro contingent, so that when I get up in the morning there are new threads and posts to read over the morning coffee.

Logged on last night after we got back from my son's playoff basketball game. They won. And I had a brand new Cutter. It needed some attention, half-assed as it was. So I worked on it, taking her out to Felicity to put some experimentals on. Thermal spread on the power plant, mass manager on the FSD, drags, super cap on all those boosters, some lightweight, some probe radius, a few more nips and tucks. Better now, but still some way from done. With no weapons (yet) there's less to do, but still a monster of a ship with a host of requirements. Satisfied though with where she was at the mo, I decided to put it to use in the freight train role for which it was bought.

Using Inara I found a station selling several of the goods needed for the trade side of the CG. In all my time in Elite I think I've done one trade CG, and that just enough to qualify. But now I have a serious hauler, and what better way to give it a run out? The station was across the bubble from Deciat, flew there, and loaded up with 640 tons of coffee. Flew to Sirius and delivered it, a profit of 7.6m. The payout was 7.7 with 100k cost. Not bad. Turned in last week's CG too, for another 58m.

I ran this loop four times, about 130 light years each way. That was 2560t contributed, and good enough for the top 50%, though barely. I'm sure that's gone away overnight. 2560t is more than a quarter of all the commodities I have sold in four years of playing Elite. The paradigm has shifted lol. The Cutter is magnificent, Outrageous capacity. 640t even with so much of the ship devoted to protection. The real test was my first interdiction. Having gotten the thrusters completely done with dirty drags, boost is 525. My first interdiction was an Elite Mamba of all things. I think that's a fast ship -- never have flown one myself, but it looks fast -- and the Cutter easily boosted away to high wake out. The Mamba took a few fleeting shots at me, but could not keep up and that was reassuring. Speed is life!

This is where she is now

WIP Cutter

Lots still to do. Marco is in Sirius, so I'll stop by to put super conduits on the PD. Usually I would go engine focused in an unarmed ship, but I want Preacher's Daughter to have the ability to mount weapons and or mining gear down the line. It isn't my idea of a fighter or a miner, but I want to build her with that capability. Need to visit Selene for some deep plate, and Didi for some booster work. I'll keep working the trade loops for the CG today.

On my second to last loop I dropped at the megaship, got within range and called for docking permission. Denied. Not unusual, just wait for the pad to free up. Five minutes. Ten minutes. Still locked. So I flew closer to see what was holding me up, and saw a very familiar Anaconda blocking the pad biggrin

I hailed commander Ram, but no reply. I reasoned he had fallen asleep on the pad, before he could get her below lol. So I relogged in solo to complete the job. The Cutter has a long way to go to repay her cost, but we are well on the way. It's fun to have a new ship, and probably the most impressive in Elite really -- the sound it makes when spooling up the thrusters is awesome -- and to have a new role to do. Hauling freight isn't completely compelling, but something I have avoided for the most part and one more thing to work in to the rotation.
