Pretty cool video of the Blue Angels working on their transition to the Super Hornets:

Video of the two teams together starts at about the 12 minute mark:

Nice. thumbsup

I'll always have a thing for the legacy Hornet but I can't wait to see them again regardless.

I hope they keep the following songs on their airshow playlist:

Start Me Up - The Rolling Stones
Shoot To Thrill - AC/DC
Kickstart My Heart - Mötley Crüe
Dreams - Van Halen
Kashmir - Led Zeppelin
Life in the Fast Lane - Eagles
Sirius - The Alan Parsons Project
Top Gun Anthem - Faltermeyer, Stevens

EDIT: Complete playlist as of 2019 (blaring out of airbase PA system)...

2nd EDIT: Also, bring back Thunderstruck - AC/DC!

The rusty wire that holds the cork that keeps the anger in
Gives way and suddenly it’s day again
The sun is in the east
Even though the day is done
Two suns in the sunset, hmph
Could be the human race is run

I prefer no music or announcer, just the beautiful roar of air power.

Anytime they're close, that's all you get. smile

^ My next show will likely be a Pensacola practice (watching from museum bleachers) and I assume no music/announcer.

A friend of mine lived right by Selfridge Air National Guard Base. We used to sit in his back yard (with a few beers) and watch all the planes doing their thing. The best was when the Thunderbirds would do their pre show practice runs. Years ago I worked near Willow Run Airport. Every year the Blue Angels would do a show there. I loved it when they would be right over our parking lot doing their practice runs a day or so before the show. No music, no announcer, no long lines, etc..

One of my favorite memories (that this discussion just reminded me of) - In 2009/2010 we shared season tickets for SF Giants with some friends. Their run up to the 2010 playoffs was epic and intense (and helped by the Padres choking). We had tickets to the opening game of the NLDS series against the Braves. It was also the week before SF Fleet Week. While tailgaiting in the parking lot before the game, the Blue Angles were practicing for the upcoming Fleet Week shows. We were already high on the excitement of playoff baseball and then were treating to the Blue Angels thundering overhead before the game. Tim Lincecum went on to put up an epic post season performance striking out 14 (and leading the team to a WS victory).

... good times.
