Sardaukar, welcome to EAW! There is a HUGE amount of stuff available for the game. There are two places to get the bulk of it. At the top of the first page of this forum is a link to Sandbagger, the original EAW archive, and then if you look at any post by MarkEAW he has a link to his fantastic archive in his signature, which includes quite a lot of tutorials as well as all of the latest releases from modders. Lastly, for the newest version of the game (1.60), look to one of Mr. Jelly's posts, his version has a great auto loading system that has many, many aircraft and scenarios. If you have ANY questions, just post in the forum and we'll be along to help you sort things out! Copy and paste these links to go to the sites I mentioned: Sandbaggers: http://www.thatoneplease.co/Tally-Ho/index.htmlMarkEAW's site: https://eaw.neocities.org/160 Downloads from Mr. Jelly https://www.facebook.com/groups/492829441612726/Cheers, Crashin' Jack Oh, by the way, my personal favorite campaign is Desert Air War, available at Sandbaggers and MarkEAW! Thank you for your kind words! I got EAW ages and few computers ago, alas dreaded 7212 error and never got into it. Had SWOTL before and enjoyed.it. I have IL-2:1946 from GOG too, but not played it that much. I think EAW had great single-player campaigns. If there is multiplayer, what add-ons people would recommend? And for single-player campaigns? Of course I need to get grips with this GOG 1.28 version too

Welcome Sardaukar. I do not have the GoG version, but it is good to see that it id bringing a few old players back to SimHQ If there is multiplayer, what add-ons people would recommend? And for single-player campaigns? From what people who have bought the GoG version it seems that they wrecked multiplayer by removing the TCP/IP protocol, which is the only one used these days for multiplayer EAW Just about everything is available from links at SimHQ to full installations with addons, from 1.28c, 1.28e, 1.29, up to UAW160. For the older versions check this thread: https://SimHQ.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/4557422/older-stand-alone-installations#Post4557422The 1.28c installation there includes SWOTL: http://www.mediafire.com/file/t1o60yquumz2dq1/1.28c_JellyPack.exe/file Jel

It is ridiculous that they removed TCP/IP from a version that had massive improvements to the multiplayer parameters. I took this screen hosting a 1.28 game at GameRanger where they require TCP/IP: I can change the target, the friendly base, the enemy base and the AI aircraft. A host-only launch is possible, which is great for testing multiplayer Mods: This was impossible in 1.2- you could not even select the target, just a region

Mark. For obvious reasons I am not spending 10€ to buy something that contains a lot of my own work What do you mean by "The fake multiplayer"? When I run my 1.28 I get this: However, I only see the parameters screen if I go via TCP/IP. What protocols are available on the screen that displays them? Are you able to get to the multiplayer parameters screen with the GoG version?

eh, Fake Multiplayer, or what your calling HOST Only Multiplayer. Only the IPX Protocol is available. Those other ones are gone. Let me see if i can get host only. I've read about this host only via my notes from researching it and knegels readme.... EDIT: With the IPX Wrapper placed in the root folder (12 files) I can get IPX only. It allows me to check mark it and select NEW, it goes to the same parameter screen you have in the code-group 128. And since theres no lan game it launched in 10 seconds for host only. EDIT2: I just ran 128 by codegroup and i still get the IPX protocol. Not sure why yours isnt showing. But I can't enter it. So I also did TCP/IP and clicked okay for blank IP window, then got the parameter screen on the codegroup 128. Heres a list of files that come with the 128-gog version: (I'm placing some info there as i figure it out too) https://eaw.neocities.org/install.html#128gog

Exactly, just try copying the Gog dll's and stuff into a folder with a code group 1.28, etc or even 1.2 AFAIK they don't have a code version. They most likely just used a codegroup 1.28 subversion, if what you say is true, if the byte size is the same. There were dozens of .exe versions passed around in testing the crc / md5 or sha etc hashes won't match the release version anyway. The TCP, etc like is all cut off by their dlls, etc or DX DRaw and Dplay configuration files. Forget about hacking an .exe with a hex editor, the eaw.exe has thousands of functions and code lines. You can simply have a look at EAW_13_04x-CodeDocs-imagesonly.zip if you want to know more about the code and how it works.

So has anyone tackled to mess of comparing the 128-gog exe and the code-group 128 exe? Moggy has and they are definitely different. This is what he wrote: I've now managed to find a copy of the very first 128 release to compare against the GOG file. Ultracompare says there is a 21,417 byte difference in the exes. The d3d.dll files are identical Repacing the GOG exe with the original 128 exe restores all the multiplayer options - but you don't get the smacker videos. You also don't get some of the cloud layer oddities when using widescreen

Just to clarify re- horizon fog. It is a problem with nvidia cards and not AMD. I do not get it with nvidia cards in my laptops unless I run glide. That is why I try to buy PCs with AMD cards. My later laptop has both, but the nvidia prevails and I need to use glide. I'll check things on them again
