As a norwegian it seems that my english is more simular to dialects in eastern USA.
Most simular: Boston, New York and Miami. Least simular: Grand Rapids, Detroit and Toledo.

This result makes no sense to me because each of these cities have very different accents and jargon.

This result makes no sense to me because each of these cities have very different accents and jargon. May be it makes sort of sense since I am a foreigner? A dialect is a result of living in an area for a long periode of time. And you probably have to be native. My english is a result of several random sources and might have confused the dialect-quiz.

Not bad. Primarily eastern Pennsylvania (born and raised, my brother and both sisters still live there) with a strong influence in the southeast in general and the Carolinas in particular (total of five years in the Carolinas and nearly a year in Mississippi the in the Air Force, all in my late teens through early twenties) and the St. Louis area (close, I've lived in south central Missouri for 19 years), some influence from central/southern California (17 years in and around Los Angeles) and a slight Alaskan trait (three years in the Air Force). What it got wrong was a notable influence from Colorado, New Mexico, and southeastern Arizona, all of which I've only passed through at best.
Overall, I'd give it a B-.

It got me right. It still feels to me that my area is the only place that says "pop" for soda pop. I have always got funny looks anywhere else when I say it. Many of my older family from south western Pennsylvania would say "yins" instead of you guys, or y'all. My aunt would always say things like, "yins have your breakfast yet?'.

*chuckle*It has me all over the place, but kind of farthest from the areas where Germans might have left a trace, or from where you'd expect my school (british) English should have me end. Okay, third is New York, that might still be close, but top raking were Honolulu and Glendale (California) At least for the least similar it's more consistent, with Des Moines (Iowa), Akron and Toledo (both Ohio). Then again, I am mangling the language for >20years in daily discussions with people from all over the world, mostly Germans and Austrians, but also plenty from China, India, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Bulgaria and other east Europeans, at a time Brits wre not so rare, but very few Americans... And in published form, we are supposed to use American English Oh, and if you want to mingle with the cool guys on the beach, firefly is your word!
