The new exes that I have released fill a need expressed by many.
They wanted an exe that runs without the need for a file-manager program
The new exe does exactly that because planeset and theatre selection are on the "Game-Setup" screen
You can select instant missions, single missions, career, game set-up or multiplayer games without the need for a file-manager.However I have been labouring because of the need to provide a version of the exe and some other files for folders that have a "Planesets" folder, and different versions for folders that have a "Multiplayer Planesets" folder.
Checking my various UAW160 folders there is no reason to have the two versions.
The ones that I actually use for flying at GameRanger, and testing new things all have a "Multiplayer Planesets" folder.
I could see no problem in renaming the "Multiplayer Planesets" folders to "Planesets".
So now only the versions for folders that have a "Planesets" folder are needed. The original link to what was a test installation had been removed.
A much better installation is here (the "Reduced UAW160V3" folder) :
Download the "Reduced UAW160V3" installation Running the downloaded 7-zip self-installler creates a "Reduced UAW160V3" folder. In it there is a program named "MakeTheLists(Planesets).exe"
When you double-click it to run you see nothing. However, it creates the two essential string files that the exe needs.
This program needs to be run every time you download a change to the "Reduced UAW160V3" folder.**************************************************************************************
Additional file managers:Although I have said that you do not need a file-manager the guys that fly online at GameRanger know that target and base selection is tricky in multiplayer because there is no map screen from which they are selected.
So we have file management programs which make the choices for the host very simple. All that the other players need to do is to load the same theatre and plane-set that the host is using.
A number of these utilities were written for use in a folder containing a "Multiplayer Planesets" folder.
I have re-done them for use in a folder "Planesets" folder.
Hence, they are included in the patch.
