The song is the opening track from Kansas’ 1988 album “In The Spirit Of Things”, which is a sort of concept album about the town of Neosho Falls, KS, which was destroyed by a flood in 1951. People and places in the town are the subjects of the songs.

Some great ones added here.

Neil Young, Roger And Out.

Trippin' down that old Hippie Highway
Got to thinkin' 'bout you again
Wonderin' how it really was for you
And how it happened in the end
But I guess I'll never know the truth
If you were really all alone
We were just a couple of kids then
Livin' each and every day
When we both went down to register
We were laughin' all the way
That's when we named it the Hippie Highway
I still call it that today
Roger and out good buddy
I still call it that today
Two Cameros racin' down the road
Feels just like yesterday
Roger and out good buddy
I feel you in the air today
I know you gave for your country
I feel you in the air today
Roger and out good buddy

Dream Theater before the soul of the band left (keyboard player Kevin Moore, who wrote this song.)

Not one I even thought of, good call! I thought a lot about "Losing It" after Rush's final documentary, where Neil said he just couldn't do it anymore at that level and duration of a tour.

Already an epic thread! I very much enjoy emotionally-charged music, including sad songs. I can tell already that I'm going to discover lots of gems on this thread.
