I need to replace a small SSD that has the main Steam and Epic installs, BUT...

...all of my games are on other HDs and SSDs in my computer. Like, A LOT of games.

I feel like if I swap hardware and re-install steam.exe etc., Steam and Epic will just be able to see those installed games if I point them at the directories, and I'll be able to pick up where I left off without re-downloading 1TB+ worth of data.

Am I missing anything?

Shouldn't be a problem,I do it for all my games on Steam,Epic,Origin and GoG. My games are spread over 3 separate discs.

Steam is easy but I did have issues with Epic recently. Epic would not verify the game when I pointed it to the old game folder, saying it wasn't empty or something. So I renamed the old folder to for example DeathStranding.bak and started again. Epic created a new folder and started to download the game. I then paused the download, deleted the newly created folder,re-named the old folder back to its original and unpaused the download. Now Epic would recognise the game folder and just verify the files without any more downloading.

Thanks Chucky. I can live with that. I have far fewer Epic games that I play regularly. I will probably buy DLC for SnowRunner this weekend, so I'll def. do that after I swap SSDs. thumbsup
