Nice. Looking well tasty. What's the time frame? What are we looking at here? How long must we patiently wait? In other words, when? Put us out of our mystery!
As much as the aircraft themselves which look great, what struck me were the new ground textures and structures, very realistic indeed.
Great work.
"A great deal of an aeroplane could be holed without affecting its ability to fly. Wings and fuselage could be—and often were—pierced in 50 places, missing the occupants by inches (blissfully unaware of how close it had come until they returned to base). Then the sailmaker would carefully cover each hole with a square inch of Irish linen frayed at the edges and with a brushful of dope make our aircraft 'serviceable' again within an hour."
I hope the goggle effect (edge blurring) would be selectable (or not) in workshops. Also I found kind of unrealistic the goggle lens break with hole, long diagonal cracks should be more realistic, IMHO.

It's in the workshop options. Shows it in the video:)
Happy the replay is back. Watching it I remember you can actually see how much has been going on outside your own flight. You fully realise a whole living world\war is going on all around you as it records other flight data aswell if it's the same as the old version.

Yes, noticed it in the video, some memories from Red Baron from Microprose came to my mind.
A few quick personal observations for Creaghorns preview movie.
The more I see the goggles, rain, and dirt effects, the more I like them. This is a brilliant immersion factor but as shown in the video, great also that it is optional to be on or off. At just 26 or so seconds in, the Spads on the ground looking around, it appears as if it's foggy. I'm wondering if that's supposed to be foggy goggles or actual fog outside? Over and over again throughout the new video, the new terrain is magnificently redone. It was always great. Now it's kind of jaw-dropping at times. At 41 seconds, the slight wind buffeting of the Spads flying in formation is awesome. Gone is the "on rails" experience some have been unhappy with in the past. To me, it looks very realistic. The new tracer effects are wonderful. Not too large or small and should be a big help in guiding one's aim. Curious if these are all through the war or only show up once tracers actually got implemented? 1:10 in they show the ability to select your own aircraft. Hurray! 1:15 or so seems to show that when you zoom in close to the engine, it no longer has graphical clips. Nice fix! 1:23 seems to show some dirt on the goggles of the DR1 pilot. Does the dirt keep getting built up over time during the flight and is there a way to wipe it off? The animated engines and pilot heads at the 2:00 mark are fantastic. It does so much to add to the feeling of real men in real planes fighting for their lives. At 2:11 the Baron gets his man. Hell of a shot killing the pilot while missing the observer! At 3:26 you can see the drum of the top-mounted gun on the SE5A rotating as the pilot fires. Just as he stops firing, the pilot's head looks up at the other combat going on around him. Watching him look for and track targets and threats is amazing! As mentioned before, the scenery, especially at 4:16 out the side of the DR1 is breathtaking. 4:30 seems to show the engine over-rev and shudder when the planes go too deep into a dive. Really nice feature! Not just for immersion but for tactically know when to back off. 5:17 shows changing out the top drum and how it pulls down so the pilot can get at it. Nice added effect to have to do potentially in the middle of combat. 6:15 shows the individual parts of the damage model in action, breaking away wingtip by wingtip. This is a huge improvement over the entire wing structure exploding away all at once. At 6:57 You can see the Fe2b rear gunner firing away even though the plane is going through some intense maneuvers! This will make hunting 2 seaters deadlier than ever...and flying them might have a better chance of survival. 7:11 New maps AND mission playback features! I have no doubt many screenshots of this will be shared in the future. 7:25 just shows oil on the screen but it reminds me that vision can now be massively obscured between oil, dirt, blood, cracked glass and fog. This can add significantly to the challenge of getting out of a dogfight alive presuming labels are turned off, etc.
Thank you Creaghorn for taking the time to do this and helping them with Beta testing. Thanks to OBD for so many amazing improvements and additions to the sim.

Everything about this feels and looks like a completely new game. The color changes really popped out to me, definitely making the fields look more alive and rich in what I assume are spring and summer. Everything looks great. I'm speechless. My card is ready,
I got fired as the door man at a sperm bank. Apparently it's in poor taste to tell leaving customers "Thanks for coming."
Thanks Todd some good spotting there! There's a ton of under the hood changes that are hard to show such as AI improvements so overall should be a lot more immersive.
Yes indeed the pilot looks ahead when firing, then switches to looking for targets etc. Creaghorn reworked the tracers with WM and we have a lot more firing going - some more wild from novices etc, so probably also more noticeable now. Currently, yes dirt can build up but at the moment we have not added wipe goggles, luckily dirt shouldn't build up too far. We have mulled that previously and it may well be added at some point. You can of course select the opacity of these effects in the workshop, or turn them off, so hopefully most people will be happy.
I can't overstate how great this looks, and how excited we must all feel for its release. The improvements are going to take our WoFF experience to a new level... I only hope my pc can cope, lol!

This all sounds amazing. Can't thank you guys enough for your passion, dedication to detail and willingness to put up with all us crazies who have a million questions. Credit card locked and loaded.
Fantastic work indeed! I liked the new reworked tracers too. Is there a chance to add smoke as well as there was smoke present in WWI tracers from some point on,. I remember watching a piece of newsreel showing Eddie Rickenbacker firing the guns of his Spad XIII, leaving puffy white trails of smoke.
What shall I say?! I too did my own smoke trail mod for WOFF PE but I was never satisfied with the result... sigh (looked convincing from some angles from others not)."
Only for info @elephant: There is a very good Tracer mod for UE and PE from @JJJ65 with smoke: Mod: WOFF PE Tracers effects mod v1.4 by @JJJ65 Forum: Wings: Over Flanders Fields – Mods Thread: New realistic tracer effects mod - WOFF UE compatible Download: @JJJ65, drive.google.com ---------------------------------------------------------------
What else is there to say? Everything looks -- and sounds -- great!
New animations, new sounds, new sun, rain, and cloud effects, new maps and options, all look great! Even the terrain is improved -- love the new muted farm fields!
Great job, OBD! Longest two week wait ever!

I'm also loving the new sound effects! Awesome! Just watched this followed by a UE edition video and WOW the difference!
One thing flying as the Entente I've never really experienced any issues trying to fly home into the wind unlike my historical counterparts. Has this changed? Will high winds be noticeable trying to fly home?
Another wish is for distant things to fade out rather than instantly vanish regarding LOD changes.
Hellshade we can already turn the Wingman on or off with PE edition.
Thanks! Post changed! lol. What is the effect it has?
Turns off wingmen. I have it off, though not noticed any difference to be honest, it just felt more realistic being off.
When on, you have always a certain guy flying as your wingman, like older WOFF iterations always used to do. He is assigned to fly with you on every mission and is also named as your wingman in the squadron, even if higher rank etc.. Off means no one is wingman of another. You fly as a group but everyone is an individual, like historically more accurate for ww1.
Watching the video I realise I desperately need Track IR or some sort of head tracking device. The plane cockpits really stand out in a 3D way you don't see with out it. Yes this expansion needs track IR.
I m not speaking of screen resolutionn details, lighting , shadows etc but the overall feeling it gave me of flying over a varied countryside...of course in every other aspect Woff PE is uncomparably better. A question of taste....

Well each to their own.....but every time I watch this video and focus on the landscape detail and the building modeling, compared to before, i'm left drooling tbh with you ....and I need to stop drooling....it gets in between the keys and hampers gameplay.
Can I click 'go' on my two-week-o-meter yet?

[Re: kaa]
Even more amazing when you compare what they had to start working with and where they have managed to bring it.
Can't help myself to think that the OFF 3 scenery was in many ways better then its successors...
Interesting to see a comparison of OFF3 scenery to WOFF B&H2
Tastes of visual imagery are, to some extent, subjective. Obviously, if the WOFF grass was purple, that would be flat out wrong, however the given shades of green and blending are just a matter of personal preference, I think. I happen to like the new stuff better but I can't fault kaa for what he enjoys more. I know I'm seriously excited to get BHAH II on my hard drive and experience all the improvements. I think for the majority of people, it will be the most immersive version yet.
Was that big furball just to show off that many planes together or is that something we are likely to see a lot more of now that everyone is going up all at once? How long will they stay that close together typically before everyone scatters?
The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...
I personally like the new scenery better but OFF P3 and the 1st HITR holds a special place for me Kaa, in fact i probably put more hrs into OFF P3 than any version since, i particularly loved the smoke and definitely gas clouds that seemed to immerse the landscape, id love to see the gas clouds back or in future a possible workshop option. Saying all that this newest version looks the absolute business..cannot wait lads
