Roy, your point about satellite-based terrains is a good one. We should aim high-although I couldn't do a mod to save my life-easy for me to talk! For example, I use SagginB's HR terrains in my installs. I don't know where he sourced his textures, but they hold their own with the modded ones in IL-2 1946 (a sim which I sometimes fly in, but quickly become bored with). There are also some lovely skies available. The game can already be made to look quite respectable with high resolutions in widescreen. EAW has a gameplay that no other sim of this kind can approach (except BoBII, but has severe problems with Windows 8 and 10, no multiplayer and is very narrowly, if deeply, focussed. Also is far less flexible).

Maybe, the GOG release will attract some new talent. Already, more interest has been sparked here.
