I always put my screens in the Elite subforum, but I thought I'd share a few, and not just with those of us playing the game

Flying the Diamondback Explorer, on a long exploration trip to Colonia, I discover a water world, which had never been seen by human eyes before. The ship is named Mad Hops smile

Arriving at the destination, Jaques Station in Colonia, 22,000 light years from Sol

[Linked Image]

It's a busy station, and this is the view from the landing pad. At least nine ships are visible, all outbound. Looks like a fire drill. Is there something they aren't telling me?

A colorful shot of me in my Krait, Twin Reverb, attempting to find occupied escape pods by knocking on the door

[Linked Image]

Twin Reverb prowling an asteroid ring on a mining expedition. This is the same planet shown from a distance in shot number 2

Mad Hops finds another undiscovered system and a ringed ammonia world

[Linked Image]

I return to the ship in the SRV rover after a bash around a forbidding landscape

Really nice pics, DBond. Good idea I think to post off-forum where others are more likely to see them. I'm temped to break out, 'go where no man has gone before', and try a space sim like this.

Thanks Chucky.

There's never been a better time to get in to Elite 33lima. There is now a 'starter area' that allows new players to get their bearings without the dangers of the galaxy at large. And there is a new, huge update, called Odyssey, around the corner, which will be the most expansive yet.

If there's anything you're wondering about, or need any advice, just stop by the Elite subforum, and the guys there will be happy to help.

I have a great time with the game, then I take months-long breaks, then come back to it for another go. Lots to do, it's fun. I've dropped about 1,600 hours over the years. It's a great game if the notion of becoming the commander of a space ship has appeal. You can become a bounty hunter, a miner, a trader, a pirate, an explorer, a passenger hauler and more. And you can do all of those things any time, there's no path you need to choose, no restrictions. Wherever the cosmic forces take you.

You can play solo, with no threat from other players, in a private group with friends, or in Open, with other players, both friendly and of ill-repute. Lots of flexibility to blaze your own trail.

It's a pity you missed it when Epic gave it away for free Lima. It does go on sale on Steam, I'm sure I've seen it at around the £7 mark from time to time.

Yeah, we saw a big surge in new players with the Epic giveaway. But even at full price on Steam, Elite is still only US$30. It's an absolute bargain for the gameplay potential it contains. It now includes the last big update, Horizons, at no additional charge. Odyssey will be another $40, but you don't have to get that until you know if you enjoy the game. Then decide. And anyway it's not out yet, but we expect it before summer. We shall see.

I'm an original BBC B Elite player:) A year and a half of near daily play save game on a tape got chewed in machine..imagine the rage! Elite was the first game I truly got into and spent hours playing. Was it 83 or '84...around then. Was on the BBC B 32k. What was done with just 32K, amazing really.

Have this version and I'm looking forward to Odyssey.

None of us really do Open. Solo or PG mostly.

Every now and then I'll fly in Open, but it's rare anymore.

Anyway, stop by the forum sometime and let us know what ships you fly, what you're up to and that sort of thing if you fancy it.
