I’ve noticed that there is a major similarity between Chris Nolan and David Lynch. Their detractors often accuse them of making movies that are hard to follow “just because” and their fans praise them for making “deep” movies that are open to the interpretation of the viewer. Lynch is art and intellectual, whereas Nolan is pretentious and does things 'because." In my eyes, Lynch is clearly a superior artist, writer and surrealist, minus the sheer wtf of the modern Twin Peaks sequel(which sticks with me still, so I should watch again). I do not think I have ever had a hard time following a Nolan film, with the exception of "Memento," which was intentionally opaque to mimic the memory of the protagonist, but Lynch often manages to put the chess pieces together in such a way that creates a layer of possibilities as to the meaning and outcome in his works. Of the thousands of films and shows I have watched, Lynch's "Lost Highway" is the only one I haven't figured out the first time I watched. The sequel to "Twin Peaks" doesn't count, because I don't think much was there beyond the craziness on the surface, but I could be wrong(and the failure to address a particular scene and plot point in the first or second episode). If you enjoy Lynch and Nolan, then I recommend you check out David Cronenberg's films, too.

Good post Blastman and I like Cronenberg too. "Naked Lunch" is definitely a cult classic and his remake of "The Fly" is brilliant.

My favourite Nolan movie, and one of my favourites in general. Also one of the less complicated of his movies, if you think Tenet was too contrived.
In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

I enjoyed it but felt that I'd never fully understand it with just one viewing. The problem is I don't want to watch it again so that's that I guess.

This movie wasn't bad, but not a classic either. I saw the ending coming well beforehand. I rated it *** out of ****.

Watching Prestige. Is that Wolverine? No, no it isn't. It's just an actor who looks amazingly like Hugh Jackman.

Well done for trying enough that you only posted twice while you were watching it. :/

Fauda was a great series. For the "Homeland" folks, but much better. I finished 4 seasons Of Homeland. I lost interest, it is a show that I may go back to one day, Not a show I binge watch. Mi-5 (Spooks in the UK) is my all time favorite anti terrorism TV show. I have 9 seasons on DVD.

Prestige: off at 39 minutes. Confusing and boring trash! You lasted about as long with "The Prestige" as I did with "Battlefield Earth". I think my ordeal was genuine.
