You're a braver man than I am, going up against the Red Army in one of those! Nice little tank though, liked it ever since making the Tamiya 1/35 version, complete with infantry figures. Repainted grey, with new decals and weathered, I think it's still in a box in the loft somewhere. Last outing was in the winter of 1983 or so.

Also, anyway to zoom in on the external views, or is it just l/r u/d and reset view controls?

Numpad 7 and Numpad 9 (with numpad toggled on) zoom the external view in and out. If looking through a vision slit, backspace toggles a zoomed-in view on and off.

SF has infantry, therefore for me beats those tank sims with no infantry. OK they aren't the best AI wise but they add so much immersion. A tank sim with no inf has no appeal for me.
